I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
For the majority of the book I gave this 4 stars. I liked the concept, I can't say I have read one about a doctor and pharmaceutical rep yet! I really like Dr. Grayson Brooks- I thought he was a nice Mild Alpha male (which I love). Trying to figure out his estranged twin brother Harrison though and what his real story is!!

I liked Alex for most of the book, but there was a part in the middle where I just wanted to ring her neck! That would be were I would give it a 3 star, I thought she got way to whiny and was getting on my nerves quite a bit.

The end was really good and I am going to dive into book 2 right now as I can't wait to see where it's heading!

Alexandra Morrison is a medical sales representative and Grayson Brooks is a doctor in her territory of Dallas Texas. Grayson has always avoided any interaction with sales representatives, until one day when his schedule is not so tight and his office manager grants Alexandra a meeting. Alexandra does not come out of that meeting with Dr. Brooks’ signature on the dotted line, but she did leave with a feeling of sparks in the air.

Alexandra and Grayson are solid characters; I enjoyed the detail DeLaine Roberts put into creating each of them. They both are strong willed bordering on overly stubborn. Alexandra is gorgeous, smart and athletic, but somehow style challenged. She relies on her best friend, Cooper, to help her pick out her outfits, and since she is trying to pay her half of the rent and make student loan payments they often shop at thrift stores. Grayson is ten years older than Alexandra and has spent time deployed overseas with the military. All of his medical training has been through the military; his medical practice’s focus is breast cancer. The story very much centers on Alexandra and Grayson and each secondary character is placed in the story to help the plot. Some secondary characters have been described specifically such as Cooper; and others, like Alexandra’s step-mother Gretchen, have very little said about them other than their name and relationship to Alexandra and Grayson.

The chemistry between Alexandra and Grayson is evident on the page and I did believe their love and concern for each other. There are a number of intimate scenes in this book; I would consider them mildly steamy. But honestly the centerpiece of this book is the relationship between Grayson and Alexandra. At first I thought this book’s plot was about two people who almost immediately fall in love and their rocky path towards their HEA. Well that was until I got to the end and found out there is a big cliff hanger ending. If you read this book you will want to read book 2 to see know the resolution; the cliff hanger is unique as it’s not the typical couple fight and one leaves that we see so often in romance books it actually reminded me of the cliff hangers you see at the end of a television season; it caused me to wonder which direction DeLaine Roberts was going to take Alexandra and Grayson (I actually huffed in frustration about the wait as I loved these two so much). So if cliff hangers bother you don’t pick up this book until book 2 is published later this summer. There is one secondary character that is closely connected to Grayson that shocked me so I would not be surprised if some of the assumptions we have from this book do not hold up in the second book. I am expecting lots of twists and turns that will surprise readers. For this reason I am anxiously awaiting book 2.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Running to You is the story of pharmaceutical rep Alexandra Morrison and Dr. Grayson Brooks. The attraction between them is immediate and explosive. Alexandra and Grayson are instantly attracted to each other. But their relationship is taboo. She’s signed a morals clause and if her relationship with Grayson gets out it could cost her everything.

Things never go as planned. After receiving a terrible shock, Alexandra suffers a stroke. Instead of leaning on Grayson, like she should, she pushes him away. Thus begins a vicious cycle. Grayson tries to help, Alexandra either pushes him away or runs away from him.

Finally, they work things out. This is how their relationship goes:

Alexandra is crying.
Brooks: What’s wrong?
Alexandra: Nothing, I’m happy.
Brooks: I love you.
Alexandra: I love you too.

Rinse and Repeat.

It seems like every conversation/intimate moment ended with them fighting, Alexandra running or pushing Grayson away or Alexandra crying. Enter the conversation:

Brooks: What’s wrong?
Alexandra: Nothing, I’m happy.
Brooks: I love you.
Alexandra: I love you too.

I’m all for couple expressing their love for each other. I just felt like all they ever talked about in the second half of the book was I love you, I love you, I love you.

The ending felt like it came out of left field. There was one brief mention of Alexandra’s safety early in the book, then nothing. Then, BAM! Problem with her safety at the end. It didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the story.

do you believe in love at first sight? do you believe that there is just 1 person out there for everyone. Dr. Grayson Brooks has been running away from feeling anything since he found out that someone he loved betrayed him. but when a rep from a medical company comes to "pimp" her new greatest thing, he knows before the meeting he wants nothing to do with it, her or anything to do with the company she works with. Grayson knows that he wants her, he just doesn't realize what it might take to keep her. when the secrets that he has been keeping from her come out at an unexpected time, throwing Alex into a medical emergency that might change everything.

Alexandra recently moved from Chicago to Dallas to work for a company she believes in. with a product that she believes in after losing her mother at a young age to breast cancer. she has pretty much raised herself, and doesn't want to rely on anyone for anything. when she meets Dr. Brooks after trying to get a meeting with him for a while. she has never felt the things that she feels when Grayson is around, but with her past history and so medical problems that happen in the book she is more determined to make it on her own, she runs from him, pushes him away when she needs him the most, but she really did need to take the time and get there on her own.

there is a big cliff hanger on this one, but we won't have to wait to long, since Delaine has already told me that it will be out soon.. thank you Delaine for a wonderful story and I will be looking forward to more from you!

I snorted in laughter on the first page. Who hasn't had a boss they'd like to put in the timeout chair at some point? I think I'm going to have to use the term "Timezone Dyslexia" one day.

I liked Alexandra's roommate, Cooper. He helped her revamp her wardrobe with thrift store finds. I remember what it was like first graduating from college and this made the story seem more real. As did her doing the ring finger check on Grayson. I chuckled to myself on that one. Sure, he was rude to her on their first meeting, but we wouldn't have a romance novel on our hands, had he been nice.

Grayson makes up for it by inviting Alexandra to view his surgery. She gets to see a softer side of him that makes him even more attractive than just his height and looks. She also gets to see what an adult man is like when he asks her if she's seeing anyone and doesn't beat around the bush about wanting to date her. Note to self: next time I reduce a guy to a sexual object, use the term "drilling hot".

Unfortunately, Alexandra had a tragic event occur in the past and has to overcome it. Grayson has baggage himself. I'm rooting for her and Grayson.

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me review this one.

This book is HORRIBLE. TERRIBLE. AWFUL. The story does NOT flow at all, there is an extreme over use of commas and the language that the characters use is just weird. I made it to 45% before I gave up.

This girl is 26 and is a medical rep. She finally makes it in to see a dr. no one has been able to meet with who is 36 and a hottie. They fall for each other and she confides to him she was raped when she was 26 and she has a panic attack over it. He says he understands and wants to work through it with her. What he neglects to tell her is that he has a twin brother. When she finds out, in a bar in front of her boss no less, she passes out and gets a concussion. Then she has a stroke in the hospital. She is weakened on one side but the next day she is out running. This book is INCONSISTENT. This book could be awesome but it would take a lot of work and because of everything combined above I couldn't even finish, it was making me crazy. Do not want.

One thing that you don't get from the synopsis of this book is how suspenseful it is! The author paints a lovely tale of romance between the protagonists and all the drama that surrounds them, some they create on their own. I loved the secondary characters, at times more then the main, as they added real depth to what could have been a flat tale. Alex was a bit too stubborn for my taste, creating unneeded drama and Grayson was a bit close minded at times.

The suspense sneaks up on you when you find yourself wanting to know how the couple with deal with their drama, family drama and even outside drama. Not wanting to give away too much, I can't wait to read the next book to see where this couple goes.

However, I'd probably only give this book 3 1/2 because of the overuse of the character's names. Every other action involved using Alex or Grayson's name. After about a third of the book it annoyed me and pulled me out of the story. Which is unfortunate. But if you can over look that, I did eventually, it's a book to definitely worth reading.

Alexandra moves to Texas with her friend Connor and she has to get sales. She works as a medical sales rep and she has her job cut out for her trying to get Dr. Grayson Brooks to even have a meeting with her.

As soon as these two meet it doesn't take long until these two become a couple. They both have a past that they are trying to get away from and just when you think everything is going great something happens that causes it to blow out of the water.

There are so many things going on in this book and you really want these two to be together because you know they are in love.

Just when I thought everything was great in the end it took an even bigger turn and I am going crazy just to find out what is going to happen next. The sad thing is that I reached the ending of the book and I have to wait for the other one before I can find out what is going to happen next.

This author did an amazing job with this book and the ending was one I didn't see coming. I will be reading more books by this author in the future.

Alex is a sales rep just starting to make a name for herself. Dr Brook is the one doctor who can help her build her name if he would just return her call or agree to a meeting. She believed in the medical equipment she sold.

Dr. Brook was all work and didn’t have the time for sales reps and his receptionist made sure to keep them away. Until Alex caught her on a good day and she allowed her to have a meeting with the handsome doctor.

The chemistry between Grayson and Alexandra was scorching hot. Every character played an important part in the story.

I read this book in one setting, I just couldn’t stop reading!! This book had so many twists I didn’t expect or see coming at all. I can’t wait for the next book!!

I read this book in one sitting, but this book was full of distractions. I loved the concept of the book with the sales rep and the doctor, because I am a nurse, I have to say the research was not there. They must do things different in Texas because the references made in this book were not typical medical situations that I have been in.

The dialog was horrible, almost no apostrophes and no slang, who talks like that? I thought that the character’s were too whishy washy with their feelings. One minute I love you then, get out of here I don’t want to see you again. I mean get it together already.

The summary held so much promise for this book; unfortunately it was super disappointing. I have a firm rule that no matter how bad a book is I'll give it a least till the 30% mark before giving up on it, and it was a fight to make it that far. The beginning was so slow, wordy, and repetitive and then all of sudden Grayson's in love/obsession Alex after a single day. The dialogue is pretty horrible and completely unrealistic. I was really glad that I didn't pay for this.

Thank you NetGalley and DeLaine Roberts for the advanced reader's copy. This was a wild ride and for the most part I really enjoyed it. Alex is a medical equipment rep trying to get a meeting with the elusive Dr. Grayson Brooks. In record time he has her on a date and then in his bed. Drama, heartache and betrayal mar their relationship over and over again. Alex and Grayson's love story is touching, but there are definitely parts that felt rushed or weren't explained well. The twist at the end was very clever and I certainly did not see it coming so I am eagerly awaiting the sequel.

This book turned out wayyy better than I had expected, and I'm actually anxious to read the second one. The first half moved super slowly and a lot of little things got on my nerves, but the second half was pure awesomeness. I LOVE Harrison and Cooper, and cannot wait to see what drama unfolds in the next book.

This is the story of Alex and Grayson, both wanting to put their pasts behind them. Lots of twists and turns through out the book. Loved Connor, Alex's room mate and best friend. Could not put this book down. I am just happy that I had the next book Two Sides Of A Heartbeat to dive right into.

Should you read this book?

Answer: No!

Here's why:

I was not able to finish this book. It is extremely rare that I will put a book down, but I am actively avoiding reading this novel. So, it seems high time that I do not continue.
I was able to read 36% of this novel before deciding that I just cannot take the story. The main character, Alex, is not likable. At first, she is fine but she progressively becomes more and more whiny as her romance with Grayson progresses. Grayson is a poor depiction of a male. He seems more like Robert's depiction of an ideal man than what an actual man is like. Grayson is emotionally dependent, overly affectionate, and in no way manly.
I can read books about characters I don't particularly like but the real reason this book was un-finish-able is that the story went it all sorts of directions in the first 36%. First, Alex wants to keep their forbidden relationship a secret which angers Grayson. Then, she faints at a dinner meeting (where an element of family secrets is shoddily thrown in) which leads to her having a stroke. After the stroke Grayson can't leave her side. On top of all this, Robert's adds due to an adolescent rape Alex has never had an adult relationship. This is just way to many plot twists and lends little credibility to the novel. Not only that there are large gaps in the story that destroy its continuity.
I just couldn't take anymore!

Running to You had me hook, line, and sinker. In the beginning, the story sounded a little familiar, but that only lasted for a moment. Roberts blew my expectations wide open. The story of Grayson and Alexandra is chocked full of emotion and angst and left me reading until all hours of the night. It was layered with twists and turns to keep the pace moving just right, giving it extra kick. It’s not your typical romance novel. Every time you thought, Alexandra was about to have a much needed break, life sucker punched her once again.

Running to You is not lacking in the steam department either. It’s actually quite daring and blows the bedroom door wide open, and a few shower doors as well! Be prepared, these are not fade to black love scenes.

Roberts’ knowledge of the medical world is also present, giving it an authenticity. More importantly, she has done a fabulous job at setting up Two Sides of a Heartbeat, the second installment in The Running Series.

Looking forward to her next read!

Medical sales rep Alexandra Morrison is anxious to snag a coveted client, but he turns her down on the first try. However, Dr. Grayson Brooks may have just fell head over heels for the feisty Alexandra and tries to put his best foot forward where she is concerned. Alexandra is falling fast for Grayson, but an incident from her past keeps resurfacing but it does not phase Grayson at all. Their courtship is riddled with misunderstandings, betrayal, and a health crises no one expected.

First in a series. I enjoyed the story, thought Alexandra fit the bill for hot tempered red head. Grayson is a bit of a mystery because you know he is hiding something, but what? Look forward to next book in series.

Grayson and Alexandra are two head strong characters who lived some very traumatic situations. Their feelings happened quickly but you could feel the instant chemistry.

Definitely and interesting read of emotions volleying back and forth. Trying to find their path but with obstacles in between. Some of us can relate with Alex and being headstrong and independent. Can she let love breakdown them walls? It was amusing to see what happened.

Oh and her best friend Cooper was awesome. Can't help but love this meddling friend.

Definitely caught my attention and had me wanting to know what happened next. Enjoyed this different style of romance. Definitely excited in finding out what is awaiting this two. :)
