She thought the people she loved would always be there.
She was wrong.
Just as Meredith begins to embrace her new world, her life is again turned upside down. She finds herself traveling across the world to pursue the one person who has the knowledge and power to help her. As Meredith struggles with who to trust and what to do next, she is unaware that the biggest battle of her life is fast approaching.
This book is the sequel to Swift. If you didn't know, I loved Swift. Heather London has crafted a highly original series that will captivate you. There is nothing ordinary about this series, let alone this book.
The story starts off in the past, and was really well done without making it a descriptive historical. I personally love the paranormal romance aspect. I don't want to read historical romance and I love how London pulls it off.
Her characters are well developed and really likeable. I love Abby the most. She has such a great personality for a supporting character. Meredith remains a consistently well written main character and I loved how she dealt with her struggles.
We are introduced to some new characters in this book and I really enjoyed getting to know Collin. I can see how he will be an asset going forward in the series. London ties her relationships up in a neat package by the end of the book and I admired her ability to make them all fit together like pieces of a puzzle.
Overall, this is a great series and I highly recommend this New Adult Paranormal Romance. If you're looking for a new series to get started on, this is the one. I give this book five glittery stars for being so freaking creative and awesome!
Note: This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
As Meredith starts adjusting to her new reality, her life takes another unexpected turn. She embarks on a global journey to seek assistance from a person with crucial knowledge and influence. Amid uncertainties about trust and decisions, Meredith remains oblivious to the impending major challenge that is heading her way.
The writing in this is phenomenal and the characters are overwhelmingly real. Of course Blake and Meredith struck a chord in me as much as they did in the first book as well as Abby; she is just so cutely quirky. The introduction of Collin was amazing he totally fits in with Abby to the T and it is humorous to boot.
This book was awesome! I sat down late at night to read a couple of chapters, but ended up reading half the book that night then finishing it the next day1 I couldn't put it down.
I don't want to give out any spoilers, but let's just say Meredith ends up where she doesn't want to be and she has to learn FAST to save herself and her friends. Blake's character was flushed out in this book. He's supportive and protective, but not in a controlling way.
There's a lot of twist and turns that suck you in, along with some totally creepy-cool stuff that Meredith has to contend with.
I love London's style of writing; everything about her story is direct and to the point. Not to mention, a dream to edit!
There was never a dull moment in this book. There was so much drama, life-threatening adventure, heartache, travel, drama, an irritating person you loved to hate, and so much more.
Meredith has to live with her life constantly threatened, but she is strong and determined and will fight to the end to protect the people she loves.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Meredith Martin went back in time to save the man she loves. And his family too. He is her "protector" and Abby her "teacher". Samuel and Annette their "guardians". Now Mer must adapt to living a hundred years before her time but that's the least of her worries. Her journey to the past was sudden and with no warning. It's terrifying to think she could fall asleep in Blake's arms and wake up alone and be gone from him forever. She can hardly stand the uncertainty. She's taking every opportunity to learn all she can from Abby about her new abilities. But will she be able to handle what lies ahead on what she's learned so far? Waking up alone never felt so desolate. Now Meredith will stop at nothing to be with the one she loves. Whatever it takes and wherever she must go to make it happen. Her journey takes her around the world and she will have to trust people she barely knows. But determined and uncertain no doubt about it, Meredith will find a way to get back to the one she loves!
I recommend these books highly! Definitely a good read!!!
Crest is the story continuation of Swift the first in a series about a young girl destine for greatness and also a target of many unsavory characters along the way. She is surrounded by many who care about her and yet at times finds herself victim of her own paranoia when it comes to confiding in others for help. Part of me was bothered by the fact that she was constantly running away from those she loved thinking that if she stayed away they would be safe from harm. I say part of me because it's a kind gesture to self sacrifice herself to protect those she loves but in reality she's only hurting them by not telling the truth.
I'd say that was her fatal flaw that at times threatened to be the death of her. This book was slightly better than book 1. In that I enjoyed some of the new characters. I still feel that the story itself needed more development as did the character descriptions and setting descriptions. There were a lot of questions I had from the last book that still didn't get answered. Plot holes like what was supposed to be Meredith's true purpose, perhaps mentioned briefly in book one but not again in book two for me to remember. They said she was a powerful witch yet there was a council of witches that controlled things?
Who, for almost all of book one and book two were barely active in the plot. That in itself didn't make sense. If the main character is a powerful witch and capable of greatness, though given that she was an infant in her craft studies couldn't do much of anything. Then toward the end she has to be the one to stop the antagonist and now she has the power, but then her male love interest was beating himself up because he needed to protect her. Why, if she's so powerful? She should be protecting everyone.
I feel like the magical scenes during her training were rushed and many times there were other scenes like the fight scene that just happened way to fast. I also was left with questions like if the antagonist could time travel why didnt' he just go to another time where she was more vulnerable and steal her powers instead of the path he took? Overall not a bad story. I am sure others will like it. I think there was room for more story development and clearer explanation of things. In addition, a clearer vision of what the council can and cannot do.
That said, I was happy she was given a surprise at the end that was worth the trouble the main character had been going through.

My Rating: 3.5
This was a really quick read. I enjoyed it and ended up being really satisfied by the end. I almost wish it had been just a tad bit longer, but I didn’t feel like anything was left open or unanswered. I was able to guess a lot of what was going to happen this time around and I was still drawn in enough by the characters to not be bothered by it. I loved the new characters introduced this time around… Jackie and Collin were my favorites. I loved Collin (I actually liked him more than I liked Blake). The romance was very cute and lovey-dovey in this story... it never really knocked your socks off, but the rest of the story was really imaginative so I just got the feeling it was more about the characters growth than anything else. I still wasn’t a huge fan of Blake this time around; he never did anything I didn’t like (besides being way too overprotective), but he never did anything to really make me fall in love with him either. Like I said, I loved Collin… maybe it’s that I was imagining him with an accent the whole time, or that I have a thing for guys that have that cocky sense of humor. I felt like there was a little more explanation about the way they handled magic then there was in Swift, which I was happy with, but I still feel like I wanted a little more (probably because I’m always curious about that part of paranormal reads). I was a little confused about how they could fly around everywhere and never be seen by anyone when they needed to keep magic secret. They always tried to find a secretive place to train in, but they just flew wherever whenever...
I thought this made a great sequel to Swift. I was really happy with the way everything ended for Meredith and her friends… it was one of those books that had that cute/”feel good” quality to it that’s just what you need sometimes (especially if you’ve read something particularly dark or unsettling before it).
I like the fact that I didn’t have to wait a year for the next book, I jump into Crest as soon as I finished Swift book 1 in the series. For the most part and what I can remember from the first few chapters the story covered a little on what happened in the first book. .
I found that Meredith was getting to be an annoying character, not good since she is one of the main characters. She is this great witch but seems to need a protector. She didn’t or won’t listen to anyone else information and when it doesn’t go her way she simply does whatever she wants anyway.
The plot was a good one in theory.. This is book two and I still have unanswered questions. For example what does the council do, what are her great powers if all the witches that teach her can do the same thing she is just barley learning. Where is that special quality that makes her so special? That’s a lot of questions left unanswered, or did I miss it?
There are sections that seem to drag and then there is the main fight that leaves you feeling like this can’t be all there is. It felt really rushed considering that both are very powerful witches and should have been a big fight. Very disappointed in the fight it was expecting her to do something a whole lot better.
Swift is suited for all ages and I would recommend this story and rate it PG-13. I don’t know if I will be reading the next one in the series. I did love the cover but I don’t remember how it is connected to the story. It was probably in there and I forgot since it’s just been a while since I finished reading it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Title: Crest (Swift #2) Author: Heather London Format: ebook Genre: YA Supernatural Novel Cover: 5 stars Main Characters: Meredith & Blake Rating: 3 stars Series: Yes
A fantastic futuristic Young Adult novel that beautifully blends time-travel with classy contemporary
The spectacular sequel to Heather London’s “SWIFT” continues the series from where it left off, with added dynamic vigor and energy. This brilliant series about a young girl destined for greatness, who is also a target for many unsavory characters, is refreshingly original and compelling reading. Picking up after book 1 ends (with Meredith stuck in 1905), I pleasantly plunged back into a magical world filled with supernatural suspense and mystery. Unlike many books within this quite competitive genre, I found the author’s style wonderfully fluid and this an addictive read.
*Short synopsis:
Meredith thought she was safe. She thought the people she loved would always be there. She was wrong. Just as Meredith begins to embrace her new world, her life is again turned upside down. She finds herself traveling across the world to pursue the one person who has the knowledge and power to help her. As Meredith struggles with whom to trust and what to do next, she is unaware that the biggest battle of her life is fast approaching…
Truly inspired and imaginative this exquisite paranormal romance is a ‘feel good’ read, which leaves you fulfilled and ultimately satisfied by the end of the story. I was greatly impressed by an author whose uniquely identifiable style and assured ability, professed much ingenuity within a diverse and greatly popular genre. This delicately interwoven, stunning tale is utterly enchanting and which takes you on a beautiful journey of love. Attractive characters delight and intrigue you whilst you loose yourself within a tantalizingly tempting tale of intense multi-layered meaning and sublime simplicity. I fell irrevocably in love with this sweet teen romance, which is highly memorable and something that is now forever etched within my memory.
If you love teen romance mixed with fantasy then this paranormal, phenomenal story is just perfect!

Meredith is a young witch who is stuck in 1905. However, she is okay with this because in 1905 she has a boyfriend and a teacher who is one of her best friends. However, one day she wakes up and is back in normal time. Meredith doesn't know why this happened, but she is determined to find a way to get back to her friends in 1905 no matter what.
I am going to start off by saying that I did not read the first book in this series. I did buy the version of it, but I've been very busy this month and did not get around to reading as much as I did a month ago, so I decided to just read the first one in the series. I figured if I had problems then I could stop and start reading the first one. However, I didn't have any problems and I did enjoy this book. I still plan to read the first in the series when things are a little less busy.
I liked how witches were portrayed in this book. I like Harry Potter as much as the next person, but I also like when things are different than it and this was different that that book was. I also liked that this book had time travel and how it was dealt with. I have always loved time travel, but it can be done wrong and that makes it so I don't like it.
I did find the dialogue in this novel could be a bit awkward, and I did find some comma errors. Some things about the characters were also awkward like how Meredith was okay with leaving her aunt and uncle so quickly etc. I also found a lot of the situations were resolved too easily and some plots were dropped only to be barely brought up later.
However, despite that, I would give this book three stars.
Meredith thinks that all will be ok now. Just continue with the training and she is surrounded by people who she loves and love her as well. But, there is no rest for the wicked and she is about to learn the hard way. Some people can be trusted, some people can be controlled. The trick is to figure out which is which. Blake and the Harpers are people to be trusted. Her aunt and new husband are more. But, when her path leads her all the way to England, to her mother's sister, things are actually calm and they start to get to know one another. Things always have a way of changing and Meredith is up against her first true battle, for the people she loves.
'When I laid down on the makeshift bed Blake put out for us, my mind began to wander. I tried to push what happened earlier tonight out of my mind, but even when I shut out those thoughts, more depressing ones entered my mind. All I could think about was how drastic my life had changed over the last couple of months and it caused me to wonder if this is how it would always be. Would I ever have peace in my life again? Would I ever get a happily ever after? Or would my life always consist of learning spells, trying to ward off dark magic, constantly running and having to worry about the people I loved being hurt?'
Great second story! Wished it was a little longer, like the first book. Meredith is a very likable character and the ending had an interesting twist. Can't wait for future books!
Saying I love this book is an understatement. From the first page, I couldn't stop reading. but, when Blake left, I wanted to delete this book from my to read list, I just couldn't believe the book could be written without him. Not even Meredith loves him as much as I do.
When Collin stepped into the picture, I was a bit disappointed, hoping he won't fall in love with Meredith and replace Blake. He seemed very irritant and arrogant at first, but he turned out as an amazing character ( although not as amazing as Blake). I missed Abby too, especially when Blake met Meredith and said Abby went missing. Blake and Abby share an unique brother-sister relationship that I'm jealous about. He just pretends she's overwhelming and annoying.
Collin was really a sweetheart. He saved Abby and I hoped they'll fall in love. Just by descriptions of Blake's sadness when he took Abby in his arms, unconscious and wrapped in a blanket like she was already dead. Meredith was very brave to face Jude and release Daniel, Jackie and Abby from the spell.
The end was happy for all. They all moved to London, where Meredith came to Jackie. Abby got her happy ending as well, which I'm really glad for. This short but amazing book was definitely one of my favourites.
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
This book picks up about six weeks after book one ends with Meredith still stuck in 1905. She's been spending her time training with Abby and hanging out with Blake. When suddenly she wakes up back in her own time without the Harper's. Now Mer feels lost again she wants to find a way back to the only family she feels understands her.
I got to know Blake a bit better in this book and was glad of that. I also enjoyed the new characters especially Colin. Mer seems to come more into her magic and herself. She's learning to live with being a witch and finding her way in the world. I do wish the story had more conversation between characters. Meredith will tell the story by remember conversations that happened but you don't actually read them. It makes getting to understand each individual character harder when you don't actually read the conversation straight from the character. Good read and ending to this sequel. I will check back with this author again to see if she's written anything new.
I read Swift some time ago and it took me a while to return to the word of magic and witches. Crest did not do as detailed a re-cap as I would have liked but it did remind me of the key events; I was not left in the dark and subsequently confused. Journeying to London to try to find some answers, Meredith soon runs into trouble and it is difficult to distinguish friend from foe. I liked Meredith in this series although she did, at times, appear to be too stubborn for my liking. Having said that though, she was not as irritating as some other protagonists I have read in other books. The action soon picked up but I would have liked to see a bit more of a fight between Meredith and the villain; I felt the 'final showdown' scene was a bit too short and sweet.
Overall, Swift has been a nice little series to read, but it is not my favourite of the ones I have read. I would recommend this series to those who enjoy magical novels.
I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion. Everything you are about to read is my full and honest opinion about the book!
This book was a great follow-up to the first book Swift. Though I don't feel it was a good as the first, I still thought it was good!
Meredith's character seemed to grow from the last book, and the characters were more developed. This book was faced-paced with adventure and action around every corner! I enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series!
I'm usually unimpressed with sequels but Crest was the perfect follow-up to Swift! I didn't intend on reading this book in one day but since I had just finished reading book one, I was very anxious to see if Meredith and Blake were ever going to see each other again. I'm not going to give away any of the plot but I loved this book. I hope Ms. London plans on writing a third book with these characters in it. I want more-lots more.
Was recommended this by my cousin. The story was great! I was lost a bit not having read the first so some bits were a tiny bit confusing for me at times, but it didn't make me enjoy it any less! Quick read, and seemed to pace a bit fast but loved how the characters grew and fell into their roles. I for sure want to read the first one now!
I liked this book. Sinusitis enjoyed it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars was because the last 40 pages or so felt extremely rushed and sort of anti-climatic. Almost felt letdown by how easy it was for Meredith to overcome Jude and neat and tidy everything was at the end. And the epilogue felt all wrapped up in a shiny big bow.but still over all a worthy read and a good solid sequel.

Adding a review for this as I've rated it without a review.
A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...
I love this story. I love all the characters. I'm so excited to read book 3 in this awesome series. Overall a great story. I'm giving this book 5 stars.
