The text takes a balanced, comprehensive, and unbiased look at many of the health and social issues which impact today's women. The emphasis in Contemporary Women's Health is placed on prevention and becoming a wise health care consumer. This approach is balanced with an examination of relationships and lifestyle issues throughout the lifespan.
For a textbook, this book is full to the brim with unnecessary fluff and fails to back up most of what it claims with empirical data. I refuse to believe this was the best book available for a women's health course. For one thing, instead of supplying the reader with the results of studies, it emphasizes stereotypes of both women and men with no evidence explaining its claims. Terrible.
