This is a sequel to ON A WING AND A DARE, but it's not necessary to read them in order.

Nineteen year old Nia is shocked when she is secretly offered the leadership of Third Barn. This new barn full of flying horses will need someone confident, experienced, and innovative, so why are both warring factions pursuing an untried girl? Suspicious that both sides want a puppet

In the Winds of Danger is the beautiful follow up novel to Linda Ulleseit's "On a Wing and a Dare." The same characters that captured readers' hearts in the first book are now dealing with the turmoil that accompanies trying to rebuild a town and community, but readers will also meet a new group of characters in this book. The characters are deep and rich, and readers won't be able to help caring about them. Owain especially has a compelling backstory and a mystery that will keep readers turning ...more

I have always had a soft spot for books about horses - and flying ones fills my love of fantasy as well. The people of High Meadow are trying to rebuild the population of flying horses after a horrible event (what I assume is book #1) leaves only a handful remaining. They have finally expanded to two successful barns, and there are rumors of a third - but many think it's too soon. When Nia, the potential new leader of third barn, starts to look closer she finds a whole lot of intrigue and ...more

In the Winds of Danger is a beautiful follow up to book 1 in the Flying Horse Books, On a Wing and a Dare. Though you don't have to have read book 1, fans will not be disappointed. New characters take the focus of In the Winds of Danger, but characters from book 1 have carried over and we get a chance to see how they have fared in the years since they moved to High Meadow.

I loved the internal struggle Nia faced when she is offered Third Barn. As much as she wants to jump at the chance to lead

The characters from On a Wing and a Dare return in this next book in the Flying Horse Trilogy, along with some new ones youll want to get to know.

The situations are more mature as the characters have grown and the suspense and intrigue are palpable.

I was eagerly turning the pages, flying(pardon the pun) through this book, eager to return to the air with these magnificent winged steeds, and to meet and come to know the new cast of characters and the challenges they face.

The aerial sequences

Beautifully written, IN THE WINDS OF DANGER is a visually captivating story filled with tension, espionage, treachery, jealousy and a fight for power. Add Romance, skillfully penned characters and enchanted winged horses and you have a very entertaining read.

As always, Ulleseit's scenes are filled with marvelous visuals that put you right there on the dusty streets of High Meadow in each shop, barn, and household with sight, smell, and sound. Her characters have depth and are unique, each with

In the Winds of Danger is a great sequel to On a Wing and a Dare! Linda Ulleseit draws you into the world of medieval Welsh, the only exception being the numerous flying horses of course... :) The entire novel is filled with suspense and mystery. I look forward to reading the last in the trilogy.

Beautiful sequel to On a Wing and a Dare. The story is well woven and intriguing, keeping interest from the early pages through the end.

Though still a YA book it may not be suitable for younger YA readers and I encourage parents to pre-read first.

Horse book lovers rejoice! Another great, YA horse series hits the shelves and ereaders. When I was a young adult, there werent that many horse stories out there. Well, okay, there were a lot and Id pretty much read them all, and it seemed like no more were going to be published. Fortunately thats changed recently. Ms. Ulleseit builds a world set in the past in Wales where winged horses actually exist. They live only in a limited area and are severely endangered due to events in the previous ...more

A story carry on as Nia will be appointed as the Third Barn Leader. She is a rider of Eira, one of the old flying mare.
Owain seeks his sister, and finds the mistress.
Very interesting fantasy story.
