A Prime Minister who successfully led a minority government, clinging on for three years in the lobbies of the House of Commons, faced with economic turbulence, domestic discontent and wrangling with international organisations. Ha, what has James Callaghan’s premiership got to teach us today?!
Joking aside, I really enjoyed this insight into Callaghan’s experiences of government. The only reason it gets 3 stars is that some of the ins and outs of long forgotten policy discussions on trivial issues are a bit dry at such distance. But generally enjoyed, and gave me a lot of respect for the last king of Old Labour.
