Well, that was an anti-climatic ending, but definitely suitable for how low-key the romance was.

But that's unimportant, because I was really into this story even without the romance. The amount of detail pertaining the work setting of Brigid and Matt (and the rest of this lovely crew) was amazing. It almost makes me wonder if the author actually had some search and rescue, or medical training, but upon further research it turns out that no, she doesn't. And that makes it even better.

A pleasant read, albeit a bit anti-climatic. There was no real problem in the story; the conflict comes from each character's internal struggle with emotional intimacy; Brigid because of her promiscuous, boastful father and Matt because of his military horrors and unfaithful ex. The physical intimacy part was no problem though. I thought the cover -- though visually dramatic and appealing -- slightly mis-sold the story. It suggested to me a romantic suspense. I would say "Rescue Heat" is more like a Medical Romance with the best ever setting and action. Loved it!

Think North Queensland, a hero who is so strong he makes your mouth water (mixing metaphors!) and a heroine who is also unashamedly strong. Brigid will call anyone on anything. Both characters are the perfect mix of vulnerability and strength, and w
