Spoiler Ahead This was book five in the "Deep in the Heart of Texas" series and although I gave this book 4 stars it had some annoying moments for me. In previous book we learned Beau had cancer and went through the horrendous treatment to get rid of it which not only changed the color of his hair to silver but also changed his outlook on life and not for the better. When the last test he's gotten showed something on the x-ray instead of sticking around and finding out if the cancer was back h ...more

*girly sigh* I just love a cowboy. And Katie Lane can write some damn fine cowboys. There's just something about them that totally sucks me in. Flirting with Texas was a quite the time. It's fun and for the most part a light read. A little silly now and again and perfect for a good chuckle. Hell, I mean really the hero and the heroine were kidnapped...by a town.

I enjoyed both of the characters but sometimes Jenna's passion for so many causes was a bit

I love this series and this town! Even better this time around is a two-fer love story, with a secondary story edging in and around

We finally cross our Scroggs and Cates with Beau and Jenna Jay. It could have been a sob fest with Beau's cancer but luckily it was pushed back. It was a fun romp with some stubborn people and that secondary story, that was just sweet!

Maybe it is me, but the antics of the town are wearing thin for me as are the hens at the henhouse. In both cases a little goes a long way. I found the romance between Beau and Jenna Jay to me meh...instead I was more interested in what was going on between Marcy and the pastor, wish that would have been more of the main story.

Wow! What a crappy story!!! Huge disappointment for me. I hated Jenna. She's too much of an activist and frankly it was corny. I didn't like that Beauregard kept dogging her figure and saying how he liked more boobs and butt. His attraction to her jumped out of nowhere!

Flirting in Texas is the 5th book in Katie Lane’s inaugural Deep in the Heart of Texas series. This story features Beauregard “Beau” Cates whom we learned in the previous two books where he was a secondary character to his older brothers Billy and Brant’s romances is a world class flirt with a smile that can melt any woman’s panties. It’s something the author can’t seem to resist reminding us of on just about every page. So why not use it in the book’s title? The female lead in this story is Jen ...more

An exciting not one but two loves story.

The first story about Jenna and Beau. Both run away from their family. Jenna run away with her boyfriend because of her family can't accept her boyfriend. Beau run away because he doesn't want to repeat his experience being a cancer patient. They where kidnap by their town folk. A few day in a camper with a hunk in a camper sure can get any girl feeling hot inside. Their get more interesting from page to page.

The second story is about a town slut and a Pa

Love Beau and Jenna Jay's story

This is another wonderful book about the characters in Bramble Tx. Jenna and Beau were in NY when they kidnapped back to Bramble. The adventures of the trip back and the time there. Hatties hens are funny and love all that goes on throughout this town. This book is one that keeps you wanting to continue reading and enjoying this town. Love these books and all the characters in them.

Flirting with Texas is the 5th book in the Deep in the Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane. And although it's not my favorite of the series it was very enjoyable.

Jenna Jay Scroggs may have run away to the Big City, but she is still the tough Texas girl that can take care of herself. Turning herself into a real life super hero Jenna Jay constantly finds trouble and gives it her all to right it, which is exactly what has gotten her in her current predicament. Trying to resuce the runaway horse an

Katie Lane is among my favorites when it comes to contemporary westerns. Her stories are light fun and always amusing. Beau and Jenna were such a cute couple. Jenna is a tomboy who never really felt like she fit in anywhere. When her and her parents got in a tiff over her choice in boyfriend she ran off to New York with him, where she has been ever since. Beau is running from his own demons. A cancer survivor, with a suspicious mass looming over his head he is de

My Review:

Overall, I enjoyed this book, although there are moments in these books where the dialogue is just too southern, sickly sweet. If it weren't for those moments, honestly these books would rate right up there with my favorite contemporary romances. As it is though, they are just an enjoyable read and I love that they take place in an area of the country that I know very well because it's home...West Texas which I call home.

This book features Beau and I've been dying for his book. I love

Once you come under the radar of Ms Hatties Henhouse and the folks of Bramble, TX beware the matchmaking that will ensue.

In this latest installment in the series we get two couple that are ensnared in Ms Millie’s web of meddling.

Beauregard Cates and Jenna Jay Scroggs – In previous book we learned Beau had cancer and went through the horrendous treatment to get rid of it which not only changed the color of his hair to silver but also changed his outlook on life and not for the better. When the

Review from Backchatting Books

Lane delivers another madcap Texan romance. As usual, this novel is lots of fun but it was a little disjointed to start with – lots of different threads heading off in different directions. Beauregard Cates has been charged by Miss Millie of the Hen House no less to find Jenna Jay who abandoned Bramble in favour of New York. Sparks fly when Beau and Jenna Jay meet despite him favouring busty ladies and her being in a relationship with a deadbeat musician. Things tak

Plenty of humor, a big dose of down home charm and an eccentric cast of characters are a winning combination in Flirting with Texas. Katie Lane’s newest release in her fabulous Deep in the Heart of Texas series takes readers back to Bramble, TX where Jenna Jay Scroggs and Beauregard “Beau” Cates fight their way to happily ever after.

Jenna left Bramble and her family behind when she moved to New York City with her rocker boyfriend Davy. At odds with her family over her relationship with Davy, th

I fell in love with Beau who we first met in Catch Me a Cowboy. So I’ve been waiting for his story. Well, maybe not, since he doesn’t end up with me. Okay fine... I love the guy and I want him to be happy. I just wasn’t sure about Jenna Jay.

Beau is this young, easy going, soft on the eyes cowboy. He’s a cancer survivor and is afraid the cancer has returned. He doesn’t want to go through all the treatments again so he leaves town and chooses not fi

This was a fabulous story that was full of romance, mystery, and drama, and did I mention the hot cowboy?

This book is one of my favorites in the Deep in the Heart of Texas Series by Katie Lane. I give it a 4.75.
I have to admit, during the first couple of chapters, I got a little confused, as so much going was going on, with lots of characters to keep straight. Once I got my thoughts in order, I really enjoyed this book. Katie Lane's books always have lots of characters, and the folks from Bramble, TX, are "Characters"!

This is the 5th book in the Deep in the Heart of Texas series. I think you can read this as a stand alone but you might want to at least read the blurbs of the other books to help you connect the characters if you haven't read any of the previous books. I have not read them all but that didn't take away from the enjoyment when reading this. Jenna Jay is a kick ass kind of Texas girl transplanted in New York City for a while. It may not be my favorite of the series because both characters were difficult to define and some events were a little far-fetched, but I can't say I didn't have a good time reading it. Beau was maybe too cocky at first but he had his moments and a good evolution through the book. I wish I could say the same about Jenna Jay but she was just too clueless about her boyfriend, it's not believable. I thought it will be more about rodeo and that a part of the story would happen in New York, but t

This is the sexiest cowboy I've ever read about or pictured in my mind. And I was raised around them hunky stuffs. Beau (Hot cowboy name) is as contrary yet fun loving man as it gets. Stubborn is the woman he's trying to forget that he wants........a major pain in tail. He has a huge "family" that is undermining everything he thinks he wants. And Jenna is having the same problem. Add in the supporting cast Ms. Minnie for one and the whole thing is a comedy and drama and love. Gotta love a cowboy ...more
