Reading this novel was a great time . Its one of the most beautiful journeys i've read in my whole life .It talks about a young girl who tried her best to survive in a big island with no one. The great moment is when the young girl decided to take a revenge for her brother by killing the dog who killed her brother but in the same time she shot the dog and saw it in the next day she nurse him . It was a blesser to read a book which is written by Scott O'Dell .
This wasn't the most popular choice in lit circles, but believe it or not it's really good! Katherine comes from the Barbados Islands to live in a Conneticut colony. She is forced to live and work in her aunt's house with her two cousins, unlike her easy, relaxing life on the Barbados Islands. I loved this book when I was a kid and I am now reading it to my kids. I am stepping up my search for good girl role models--trying to counteract the Barbie Princess phenomena. Even though this is a chapter book it really engages Kate (age 5) as well as my two older kids.
