Gargoyles do not admire difference--and Levet is undeniably different. Of miniscule stature, rather beastly looks, and with fragile, delicate wings, even his family has shunned him, banished him from his beloved Paris. That he is the only gargoyle ever to help defeat the Dark Lord and his hordes of minions makes no impression. But now Levet has come home, determined to be restored to the official Gargoyle Guild. To do so, he must confront the most feared gargoyle in all of Europe. The one who tried to kill him as a child: his own mother. . .
With few allies, Levet's survival may depend on the aid of two strangers: Valla, a beautiful but damaged nymph, and Elijah, the fiercely possessive, love-struck vampire clan chief to whom she can't quite surrender--unless Levet has something to do with it. . .
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
Very short story about Levet's quest to have his name returned to the Gargoyle Guild. Fun read but I was expecting a love interest and HEA for the little guy. Hopefully that will happen down the road..I hope so.
A fun and sweet little short featuring Levet the cute little gargoyle who provides the comic relief from Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Eternity series. After the events of the last book where Levet played a pivotal role in defeating the "big bad" he has recovered from his injuries and finally has his dignity and man pride restored (or should that be gargoyle-pride) when his awful mother and doyenne of the Gargoyle's Guild adds his name to the mystical Wall ensuring his place in the Gargoyle Guild. Surprisingly enough the HEA of the short is not provided by Levet but by Elijah, the Paris leader of the Vampires and the lovely but damaged nymph Valla with a little helping hand of course by our vertically challenged hero.
Cute and entertaining but i felt just a little bit cheated. When his Levet going to get his HEA.... so 3.5 stars!
Short story focusing on Levet, a character in this series. He’s a small gargoyle, a mutation maybe? Rejected and hurt physically as well as emotionally by his family. He was thrown out of the gargoyle guild and now wants to be reinstated. Except for when he’s with his family — a kind of happy go lucky guy. I originally tried to save some time by using the review link at the end of the book. Didn’t work so well. I want to read the rest of the books now. This was a free download for me, did not affect my honest review.
He's my hero and I love his return to Paris to claim his place in the Guild back. His momma and sister are evil bitches and don't deserve to be related to him. Best story!!
As the title of this novella was Levet I really expected it to be about him especially as it was such a short story. I would have liked to see him get his mate too but maybe Ms Ivy intends that for later in the series.
Enjoyed catching up with Valla & Elijah but would have liked to read more about them too so would have preferred them to have their own book.
3.5 stars - I liked this Guardians short, but I have to say that I was expecting a bit more Levet and a different HEA. Still it was fun to see Levet go home and use his new confidence as savior-of-the-world to take back his heritage. I liked the secondary pair as well, and there was just enough of them to work - and to leave me wishing that there had been more.
Novella Unfamiliar with this series, but it was largely self-explanatory. Not sure if I’ll bother with reading any of the others, seems like a PNR series.
“I may be small, but my powers are mighty.” “So mighty that you’re hiding in a nymph’s apartment?” -Levet and Elijah
A pretty decent novella. Before reading it I thought that it would be about Levet and only him, but I was wrong.
Well, the story gives as insight to why Levet fled Paris and the reason he finally returned.I hated hated his mother...How could she be so cruel is beyond me!!!I have loved Levet since the beginning of the series and still do...
In his effort to achieve his goal, Levet meets a nymph named Valla.Valla, is hunted by memories of the past! But that changes when she meets Elijah, the "local" clan chief. All Elijah ever wanted was to find his mate, so once he did he thought things would get easy! How wrong he was...Elijah helps Valla fight her nightmares and together they help Levet fight his battles!
A very short must-read novella of the series...
I'm looking forward to reading Levet and Yannah's story!I really like them together and let me tell you just this: there is an amazing scene between them in Darkness Avenged .
I love Levet and am so happy for him right now. I’ve adored him from the moment he was introduced in the Guardians of Eternity books and I look forward to seeing him in the future books. After what happened in Fear the Darkness, I could not wait to see what happens next for Levet. All the trials, heroism, and persistence in the face of danger has finally paved the way for him to over come his past, put closer on his clan, and get something he has wanted for years.
We are also given a tiny romantic side story, where Levet does his usual match making. It was a sweet story, but I would have loved it to be a novel or a full length of it’s own.
Levet is a nice novel in the series and we get to see our mischievous and loving gargoyle again. Fan’s will enjoy Levet.
Go go go Levet!!!!
What can I say, I love Levet. He is absolutely my most favorite character in Ivy's writing. Now, he gets most of the spotlight. While the story focuses on Levet's journey to confront his family in Paris, Ivy also delivers a smoldering new couple...nymph Valla and vampire clan chief Elijah. Of course, Levet wins the ladies hearts but he also faces the torments of his past. I loved the insight into Levet but was thankful it was not a Levet's descriptive love story.
This was a short exploration into Levet's past. Giving you a taste to hold you over until we get more from the Guardians of Eternity series.
Guardians of Eternity #9.5 Levet by Alexandra Ivy Levet the lovably annoying little gargoyle who plays a part in every other book in this series, finally got one that is centered around him and gives us even more of his back story. This book is not Levet's love story, but it does have a romance of its own and our friendly neighborhood gargoyle plays his part in this one as well!

A short story about our favorite midget gargoyle. After being wounded during the battle with the Dark Lord, a newly recovered Levet visits Paris the city where he was born, but because of his size is not welcome. He confronts his mother hoping to dispel the demons of his past and reclaim his birthright.
There’s a secondary story about a nymph named Valla and the Paris clan chief Elijah. Valla is the nymph that Jaelyn had to leave behind with the slavers. After she escaped, Elijah found and cared for her. Realizing she was his mate, he’s been waiting for her to recover emotionally.
No doubt about it...Levet is my favorite character in this series
And because of that, this short story came up short for me. Although we finally got to meet some of Levet's family, these 77 pages mostly covered a HEA for a couple of minor supporting characters.
I figure that if you're going to write a novella about a character (in this case, Levet), then the book should actually BE exclusively that character.
This is a chance to see Lever as more than comic relief in the Guardians of Eternity series. He faces his fears and family to earn his rightful place in the Gargoyle Guild. Also we learn the fate of the nymph we met in the story about Jaelyn. I really enjoyed Levet's story.
O my first seasonal read this year and it's just such a feel good tale. Those readers such as myself who adore the Guardians of Eternity series will be well acquainted with a certain gargoyle named Levet and will realise that he is the perfect foil for a festive Christmas story. My only real complaint is it's so very very short ! So my advise is save this for that moment when you need to escape the madness and mayhem of hectic festivities and sneak away for a quiet hour with just Levet and your kindle ! Levet may not be the biggest and most bad ass of the gargoyles but he's a people person although unfortunately there are far too many males out there who would disagree! Levet adores women though and although at times his intentions are often misconstrued he would do anything for those he cares about. The problem is so many simply refuse to see that Levet has a lot to offer but he won't let that deter him and so is off to spend Christmas Eve visiting Harley his friend who has just given birth but low and behold her new family refuse to let him in! Feeling somewhat disgruntled Levet wonders just what he should do but as he stumbles around he comes across a real honest to goodness Christmas fairy! Now that's not something you meet everyday and even the precocious Levet is a tad taken aback but what's even more confusing is her insistence that he take her wand and help bring Christmas cheer. Levet finds himself showing a particularly grumpy were named Damon that every action has consequences but will Damon learn his lesson in time or will Levet fail to save Christmas? Ok this was a sweet little read. It's not overly long and yes it's a little cheesy but it's clear to see that the author had an almost Dickensian moment when she came up with this! It's not the most intense story but it moves along quite quickly and does have an unexpected twist that works out beautifully. As usual Levet is a sheer delight and the magic of Christmas brings joy to all( well the good guys at least!) and most importantly it brings the next full length book in this series that much closer. A good way to sample Ms Ivy's writing style but maybe intended more for existing fans of the series Copy gifted by publisher in exchange for an honest review
