This is a sweet book! Well written and funny. I loved Sunny and Jake together. The side characters are great too! There is some romance, but not much steam! The mystery was done well!

Have you ever picked up a book because of someone else's recommendation, even though that genre wasn't really your thing? Because that was me. I'm not really into chick lit or mysteries anymore. I've liked plenty in the past, but they haven't worked for me in the last few years. Yet I trusted an author whose books I love, and picked up a sample on Amazon. I was happily surprised that when I got to the end of the sample, I had to have more! So I went and bought this book. It was just that adorabl ...more
I knew I wanted to read this book as soon as I read the description. Not only did it have the cozy mystery feel (one of my favorite genres), the main character is a dog-loving book fanatic who is a member of a book club! Sounds like someone I know... oh wait... ME! I related to Sunny right away in that we both lead quiet lives and are sort of home bodies. She reads a lot of books and fantasizes about living those book lives, all with her best pal, Beau, a precocious dog, by her side.

So the stor

I highly recommend this fun story! It's a cross between a romantic comedy and a cozy mystery. It's laugh-out-loud funny and heart warming, all rolled into one. Sunny's dates, her fellow book club members, and her new hot, sexy neighbor, all make for a great read! I can't wait to see what's in store for the other members of the Pleasant Valley Page Turners Book Club in the next book in this series! ...more

A great LMAO read!

Jennie Marts has created a laugh out loud, rip roaring romantic comedy novel that I just could not put down! Read along as you meet
Sunny, a twenty something 2nd grade school teacher whose idea of excitement consists of eating ice cream & reading steamy pirate
romance novels.

Enter the Page Turner's Reading club, who decide it is time for Sunny to get out and start meeting people. They decide to set her up on
6 blind dates during summer break, hoping she will meet Mr. Right. Ad
When elementary school teacher Sunny's neighbor disappears and a strange man takes up residence in the empty house next door, she and her book club friends have plenty to gossip about. He's mysterious and sexy, and Edna swears she saw him carrying a gun, but no one can figure out why he's really there — or what happened to Walter. Despite her friends' best efforts to resurrect her love life with blind dates, Sunny can't keep her eyes off the man next door, but giving into her attraction might le ...more

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was a brilliant piece of chick-lit!

Quirky, mysterious, bat-s**t crazy and funny, I spent a large portion of thie book laughing out loud!

The book was fast moving, something was always going on to keep you hooked, whether it be the element of mystery, the fantastic humour, or the romance.

Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got Nobody is a hilarious, laugh-out-loud, mysteries good time!

Sunny's friend decide that Sunny needs to find her match, even if she is not sure of this herself. They each take turn picking a guy for Sunny every Saturday night. The date's range from funny, weird, sad, and boring.

During all the crazy dating, Sunny gets close to the new guy Jake. But the problem with Jake, he may have possibly killed Sunny's next door neighbor, Walter. Yeah, I would say that wou
Cute cozy mystery/chick lit romance with lots of fun characters. Unfortunately the main character, Sunny, was so DULL. She doesn't like to do anything. She doesn't like adventure (yes, someone who hates surprises and adventures we are supposed to believe wants to solve a mystery). There were lots of humorous parts, which were great, and I thought the mystery was handled fairly well, even as it was in the background to Sunny's dating life. I enjoyed her friends (particularly Edna and Piper) and h ...more

Such an enjoyable read. I was really looking for something light and funny, and this gave me it perfectly. It was interesting, funny and it felt real. I fell into this world and was sad to leave it. Loved Sunny, she was a breath of fresh air. I loved all of the dates she went on, and looked forward to them as much as her interactions with Jake. What a great read! If you want something missing that heavy drama that I find to be exhausting sometimes, then I definitely recommend you give this a try ...more

Overall, it was a well-written and good story, great main characters, actually very clean language but I'm not a fan of romance or romantic details, so I skimmed over all that. To me, there wasn't enough mystery, but not being one to bug out on a book that had just enough mystery to keep me reading, I only really read the parts that interested me which were the sleuthing and finding out what was going on with the missing neighbor. To be quite honest, I mainly read it for a book club and because ...more

When I approached the author in a group where authors ask for people to review their books, I saw this one. What drew me what the cover of this book, its very eye catching. My second thought was, that it looks a bit like a chic lit book/choc lit and I don't often read them.

So, I read inside the preview and thought I'd give it a read. I can honestly say that I LOVED this book. It had me laughing out loud in some places. Oh Don't be mistaken, its not a usual love story, there is mystery, possible

This book was all over the place! All the characters, the main characters are beautiful people, talented, smart and wonderful. The senior character in the book is obnoxious and trashy. There is no reason for the plot of trying to find "Sunny" a date, she gets hit on all the time, and is pretty much in love with the new neighbor and he with her. But we have to go on all these ridiculous drawn-out dates, and a long weird story about a missing neighbor. It's all so convoluted and strange, I can't e ...more

I just finished this book. It reminded me of more of a romantic comedy with a few zany ladies thrown in. There were parts that were serious, but basically a light and fluffy read. The dating trip for Sunny was comical. I enjoyed her neighbors and her book club friends. The Pleasant Valley Page Turners Book Club can easily be a series and I think it should! The cutest thing was her friends were not cookie cutter friends. her neighbor was a lot older and sort of off her rocker, but Sunny really ca ...more

This was such a great book. The first I have read from Jennie Marts. It was so funny. It centers on Sunny and her neighbors in a cul de sac and also her friends from her once a week book club. Her friends all decide Sunny needs to get a dating life so they talk her into six weekend blind dates. These turn out to be hilarious. Sunny is interested in her neighbors grandson, Jake. As Jake searches for his grandfather and Sunny goes on her dates alot happens in between. This is a great read and wort ...more
I just loved this book. Laughed out loud and even shed a tear. Edna was a hoot and the hilarious dates of Sunny had me smiling from ear to ear. Jake was sexy and all of the characters came to life in this book. The book probably could have ended two chapters earlier, but still so worth the read. A great romance with some mystery intertwined and lots of laughs

Oh my. I can only gush about this book. Thoroughly adorable lead female with a group of hilarious and charming friends to support her, a very hot lead male to fall in love with, an intriguing mystery to solve and some very hilarious dates to laugh at. A well crafted, terrific story with brilliant characterisation that is a whole lot of fun. I can't wait to read Jennie's next offerings. ...more

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet and funny story about a book club whose members a bit too nosey. It will put a smile on your face and make you wish you had friends who cared so much! Sunny has some of the worst dates in history! There are lots of laughs for the reader!

Great, light read! I enjoyed the characters and the humor. I live in Colorado Springs, so the local references were great too.

Sunny’s friends and neighbors are trying to fix her up with blind dates. None of the dates work out for her, but one seems to not want to let her go. Jake moves into her neighbor’s house and the neighborhood is worried that something happened to the neighbor and does not trust Jake. Love her friends and neighbors, they are funny and also care about their friend Sunny. I like the slow friends to lovers building of the relationship between Sunny and Jake and protection by Jake when she is being st ...more

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I wanted to. It had a Stephanie Plum vibe but felt a little too silly. I will try book 2 though, because it might just be my current mood didn't mesh with the style.

Oh man, I really enjoyed this book. Right off the bat I enjoyed the MC, Sunny, and I absolutely loved her older neighbor Edna. She literally had me cracking up, thus giving it away to my coworkers that I was reading instead of working. Oh well, this story was worth it. Sunny's other friends added more dimension to Sunny and made me wish I had friends like that, or at the very least a book club like that.

Sunny was such a goof that I couldn't help falling for her, and her blind dates were so disas

Cozy Mystery, Chick Lit, and Women’s Fic – this book is a very entertaining hybrid of all my favorite genres and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Schoolteacher Sunny Vale is a very likable and relatable heroine. She lives in small town Colorado, has an adorable golden retriever named Beau, a good relationship with her neighbors, and a wonderful group of friends. What she doesn’t have is a social life, but all that changes when the ladies in her book club decide to take turns setting her up on a ...more

Fabulously fun read! Great premise and fun, quirky characters draw you in and take you on a wonderful ride. The action begins quickly and with each turn of the page, you're drawn into Sunny's world. And Sunny's world is generally that of a quiet school teacher's. However, this summer, her life becomes chaotic and full of mystery beginning with the blind dates her well-meaning friends set her up on because she needs some excitement in her life.

Sunny is a girl who likes a quiet life: curling up on the sofa with a good book and a good dog. Her friends try to help find a good man to go with it. The members at her reading club set her up with some terrible blind dates, but surely the guy who's just moved next door couldn't be any worse? Can Sunny gloss over the minor detail that he carries a gun? Or that he arrived soon after the mysterious disappearance of the previous neighbor?

A well-written rom com with a splash of mystery, that crackl

This book was cute and fun and the ending was great. Some things I could figure out, but others I was lost on (and I love that). I love how the book had clear main characters, but the author made the story about everyone, gave everyone their chance in the spotlight. At first I thought it was a little awkward, but I changed my mind quickly and got into it. I kind of reminded me of Love Actually. :)

The best thing about the story are the characters. They were strong personalities and I loved that-

LOVE THIS BOOK. It had me laughing at times. Especially loved the main characters, Jake and Sunny, and found myself wanting to know when they finally got together. You can feel the chemistry they had together as if they were actually standing in the room with you and you can feel it.

I also like the other characters in the book. I liked how this book ventured out into pieces of the other characters lives. Let you see how it all connects to e
