This is a historical romance with paranormal themes running through it.
Rachel is travelling with her father and sister when she is captured by the Macbain clan. She escapes, however, and is helped by Alec Munro, chieftain of a rival clan.
Rachel has healing powers and saved Alec's life after he was slashed because he was distracted by her beauty.
Alec is a handsome, strong and honourable man - the perfect hero.
He eventually has to fight Macbain who wants to claim Rachel as his, but the

Highland Heart is a historical romance about a young woman named Rachel and her sister, Isabelle, traveling with their father. Things are going well until they reach a forest and notice something isn't quite right. They are under attack and must flea quickly before they are kidnapped by the enemy. Before hand, Rachel sees a strange man standing in the forest, but he ends up injured and s

It's not easy to put a new spin on a Middle Ages Love Story, but Ms McCollum has done so here!

This may be a Highland Romance, but it's a great one!! I commend her for grabbing my attention from the opening paragraph and keeping it thru this fast paced story of love, honor and ultimate satisfaction! With fewer words than I thought possible, the well-developed characters seem to literally burst off the pages! The action propels the story, while we're given the motivations from both sides, with a l

If you're in need of a quick Highlander fix look no further. This one's short and sweet. Perfect for a rainy afternoon or when you're on the run and just want something that'll quench your thirst for gorgeous hunky highlanders and gentle lasses that are more than what they seem.

Since Highland Heart's a short story (about 50 pages) you know things are going to move fast but McCollum did a fantastic job and really had me not only buying into the story but loving it. The romance is quick but, and

Traveling through the land of Loch Tuinn, Rachel Brindle, her sister Isabelle and their father William are on their way to the Munro land to do some bartering for wool. While on the road, Rachel inadvertently does something that will reveal her healing magic to those around her. Alex Munro of the Clan Munro (insert Sean Connery’s voice) is doing some hunting and gathering work (in his kilt only – hubbabubba) along the property when Rachel sees him and later remembers him from a childhood inciden

I typically don't read a great deal of historical romance, but thoroughly enjoyed Heather McCollum's Captured Heart, and was so excited to hear about her novella, Highland Heart. We originally met Rachel and Alec in Captured Heart, but they were much older. Highland Heart takes place before Captured Heart and is the story of how Rachel and Alec met. Rachel is what many would call a witch, but she calls herself blessed, a healer. Alec Munro is the leader of his clan and is quite the character, ro ...more

Highland Heart is a very short story about a young English woman with exceptional healing powers, traveling to the Highlands with her younger sister and ignoble father who are then captured by a warring clan. Riddled with action and passion, Highland Heart is a quick but fulfilling read. Being only about 50 pages or so, the romance was short and incomprehensive but still felt true.

I saw on other reviews that this is perhaps a prequel to the author's previous book, Captured Heart, and after look

I've never read a book like this before so it took a while for me to get into it. I wasn't buying the fact that Rachel has magic powers and it seemed kind of out of place in the story. But after a while Rachel and Alec started to remind me of Belle and Adam in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". As I said it took a while, but this turned out to be a very romantic story and I found myself swooning a few times. The "battle" scenes are a bit graphic but once you get past that, " it's a quick and enjoy ...more

Set in the early 1500s, this short story is packed with political intrigue between the Scots and the English. The main characters, one English and one Scottish, are both strong-willed and determined. But one of them has powerful healing abilities, and some say she is a witch. Such in interesting read !
