BOTTOM LINE: Excellent source for large-scale, medium-sized sweaters crocheted in a variety of yarns; quite reflective of the period, though, and most of the designs seem rather lumpy/clunky now.

There are many terrific patterns in this book, with a variety of sizes represented (although the actual sizes generally only go up to 42", the finished products are often a great deal larger), and often with clever crochet stitches used. A great resource for those who intend to adapt to more modern styles, with many of the designs still rather vibrant and interesting - it's just that I was put off by the use of some crochet techniques that I personally find boring (i.e., post stitch). And, btw, there seemed to be rather a lot boat-necks, so if you don't like this design element....! Good photographs in the "Family Circle" style, and excellent pattern schematics and instructions. Overall a rather good, if dated, sweater pattern book only for crocheters - as such, a fairly rare occurrence and, thus, welcome in most crocheter's libraries.

Packed with beautiful, wearable sweaters, mostly for women but a few childrens patterns as well. Each project has a rating from easy to advanced. Some of the colour projects have the same love of pattern that is indicative of the designs of Kaffe Fassett. My main criticism is that not every design is offered in every size!

Lovely patterns but difficult to read instructions. Only for the very patient crocheter.
