A homeworld is not always home.
Family is not always blood.
Enemies are not always who you expect.

Captain Evridiki “EB” Bardacki wants nothing more than to quietly ride off into the sunset with his fiancé, his crew, and his adopted daughter, Trace. But when a strange message brings them all to Trace’s home star system of Icem, it turns out the fragments of the crime syndicate that kidnapped her have one last trick to play.

An old enemy has betrayed their former compatriots and set into motion events that may allow EB to save hundreds of children like his daughter from the traffickers who stole them away. When that enemy shows up dead, the crew of Evasion must decide whether to chase the leads left by a dead monster or protect themselves.

Those leads will take EB and Trace into the dens of crime lords, the homes of judges, the hearts of secret bases—and the presence of the foster parent Trace ran away from at the beginning of everything…

The Evasion returns to Icem (where Trace is from) after receiving a mysterious message.
Where they learn there are more ships of slaves that need to be freed.
Lots of action and good tying up of loose ends.

Series should be read in order to get the most out of the character and universe building.

Good finale!

Less halaquin, more space opera.

Greetings, I really enjoy some of your series. This one is more romance novel than I care for. Not mad at you as it's been a good story so far, but I catch myself skipping pages instead of paragraphs every now and then. If this is your new style for space stuff I wish you the best.

Sad to come to the end of this story

It is a sad moment to come to the end of the story but it was a joy to read the series. Stewart is a gifted builder of universes and characters. Em Stewart leaves me wanting more stories with these characters.

loved the series

More adventures in the scattered stars universe. This time out on the rim with EB and crew fighting the good fight against organized crime and human trafficking. Hope there are more adventures now that they have picked up new crew.

A fitting end for my least favorite series from the author. The action was great and the ending was satisfying, with a neat ribbon. The author also left himself a hook for a sequel, though I hope he doesn't take it and we get more Starship's Mage.

Twisty and wholesome

Trace and her dad's move to liberty of possibly gruesome death. Either one will be well write and a not of a read. Don't miss out on the next adventure of the crew.

so-so woke drivel

Was doing OK with this until it started using woke pronouns to refer to an individual. Of course … more words.

Very good book and a nice ending to the latest chapter. I feel like this is the end, but I hope I'm wrong.
