I tried. I really did. Uh. Yuck. Ewe, nasty. If he called her hooha his little Pearlette one more time. And she referred to it as her Venus. Ugh. Hardly any character development. Twenty five year old millionaire meets forty year old in coffee shop. Went from rock climbing, perfect gentleman then no contact for a week to him being a totally different crass douche. If you could see my face.... Like i just sucked a lemon, people!

I'm all over erotica. Good erotica. Well developed scenes. This was j

Well, this book was really a surprise and I have to say that I liked it a LOT! It is written in first person narrative, using the heroine Pearl to tell the story. I have to confess, that I have not read very many books written in this format, but Arianne Richmonde pulled it off very well.

The story was one that kept me interested, because the heroine is a 40 year old woma

To me, any book with "Shades of" in the title is a knockoff of well--you know, and ignoring the very very bad cheesy dialogue and the fact that it's in the first person (which bugs me tremendously if it's not very well written), it was just an ok book.

The cutesy names for her vajayjay left me shaking my head. I had 1970s porno Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wow music playing in my head laughing to him referring to a Pearlette and her calling it a V8. She's 40 years old, a divorcée of two years and still reverts

This is the first time I’ll review two books in one review. Reason being that the second book, Pearl, is an alternate POV of the first, Shades of Pearl. That being said, I really wanted to see how the two books compliment each other. And whether the story benefits from the alternate POV. Turns out it does, but I’ll leave that for later in the review.

Shades of Pearl is the story of Pearl Robinson, a 40 year old documentary producer. She is tasked with interviewing a brother and sister duo who are

Forty Shades of Pearl blew me away! I didn't know that an erotic romance could be so well written. Wow! My girlfriend told me to read this book and I'm glad I did. It wasn't only the characters that drew me in but the original story-line and the book as a whole. A lot of it is set in France. Two of my favorite villages in Provence are described beautifully, Ménerbes and Gordes. It made me feel like I was there - really part of it all.

This book is very sensual in many ways, not just the sizzling

Doesn't this book have one of the most beautiful dedications???

I really enjoyed this one! Sexy Frenchman in his mid 20s & easy to like heroine (and she is 40, imagine that!!!) make for a great pairing! Awesome settings: NY, Prevence, South of France, etc., steamy sex, awesome dirty talk, great playlist AND vintage cars ... need I go on?? Reads like a well written soap opera (IS there such a thing as well written soap opera though? LOL!) and I don't mean it in a bad way. I am sure more skeletons

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified PurchaseRichmonde writes with great verve, pacy and enjoyable. With her skillfully drawn main characters, Arianne steers you into a world charged with steamy sensuality, not leaving out any of the ingredients that feed an addiction you never new you had. This irresistible read keeps you turning the pages untill the small hours.

At first I wasn't sure if I would like this novel because I suspected it might be a 50 Shades copy. How wrong I was! Yes, it is also erotic but so tastefully done and it is a really beautiful love story which held my attention from the first page until the last. I could not put this book down!

Although there are two more books in the trilogy (yet to come out)this novel is complete in itself - Arianne Richmonde does not use the cheap trick of chopping off the ending with a cliffhanger. But you wa

This is a story about a sexy older American woman and a younger, dominant French man (you all know how much I LOVE FRENCH men!) This was one HOT book. It was not heavy in the kink department – but the sex? I LOVED the sex! Yummmy!

And the author's male hero's name is Alexander Chevalier! (Maybe a relation to André Chevalier? But only because he is GREAT in bed.)
A good story, the heroine is quite amusing in the way she looks at life. LOL moments. You won’t regret downloading and reading this book

LOVED this book At first, I thought it was a parody of 50 Shades of Grey (there are so many now), and I would not have read it, but a friend who has similar taste recommended, so I started reading it. At first, the idea of a much older woman with a younger man seemed weird (even though she is just a LITTLE younger than me), but I eventually got over that and stopped thinking about it. He definitely seemed more mature. I got hung up on a part that bored me and stopped reading for about a week, th ...more

The story-line...not bad. The terminology for body-parts....oy! I could only laugh because no one seriously refers to their lady-parts as a "Venus mound". Ever. Even if she's 8 years old...this woman is 40!! Bahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Okay, okay, for real, review coming soon. I am going to now read this from Alexandre's POV. I know a Frenchman is not going to call his parts anything crazy...I hope! :-)

First off, I had seen this title and had held off thinking it was going to be a copy of 50 shades of grey. I was wrong! It was totally different, and I really enjoyed it.
Pearl is a woman in her forties who has a successful job, is divorced, and whos never felt satisfied in her sexual relationships. Until she meets Alexandre a 25-year-old French entrepreneur who she’s trying to get an interview with for her documentaries. She ends up running into him (unknowingly) in a coffee shop. Dislike the title intensely.....I honestly do but I did like this little gem of a story that I read in one night. Pearl is forty and successful. She has lived a full life experiencing it all.....a failed marriage that left her shattered, a miscarriage that left her doubting motherhood and confidence that can only come from growth when heartache, disappointment and regret has been part of your life........in other words she sounded real!....(okay Alexandre was 25 and a French millionaire........t ...more

This is a mature romance between a 40 yr old woman and a 25 yr old man. It is a hurricane of emotions with a touch of dominance. Their physical love is engrossing and HOT!

This book is well written, with characters well defined where you become so involved it plays in your mind like a movie. MUST READ! About time someone wrote a love story of a 40 yr old woman. She is old enough to appreciate the affair. At her age let no one say that feelings and passion cannot consume you. These two are on FIRE

I didn't quite know what to expect before reading this book. I had read many reviews and was unsure if it was for me. Was I wrong! From page one, I was totally engrossed in Pearl and Alexandre's story. And I was totally awed by Ms. Richmonde's writing. It's beautiful and lyrical--she writes great dialogue and makes the reader really experience the scene. I was in heaven when she transported me to Provence! And let me tell you, the sex scenes are fabulous! After finishing Part 1, I immediately pu ...more

review time... Well I have read 50 Shades of Grey, which I fell in love with and had me craving more... so I came across a couple of series that have really been great to read. This being the start to one of them. 40 Shades of Pearl is about a 40yr old woman named Pearl, who is supposed to go to an IT convention to get the inside scoop on a company started by a 25yr old man and his sister 10yrs his senior. She misses the chance to interview him but luck has it runs into them in a coffee shop... ...more

I had a lot of doubts whether or not to read this book. Mainly, I feel like the title was a rip-off from EL James'. However, there were so many conflicting reviews on it that I just had to see for myself. I've read several May-December romance novels. One thing I enjoy about them is that the h is stronger, independent, and more mature because of her age and the hard knocks of life. This h, Pearl, was not like that. I was actually surprised by her immaturity and her internal dialogue drove me nut ...more

I loved the concept of this story, but I found Pearl to be annoying often as not. She was supposed to be a 40 year old woman, but she didn't read as such.

Alexandre is 25, and yes, French, but he seemed a lot older than Pearl. His mannerisms was those of someone older than he. I know age doesn't always have anything to do with maturity, but he still seem far wiser than Pearl.

Maybe it was meant to seem that way, so that the age difference wouldn't seem like much of a barrier in their relationship.

Amazing amazing book! This first book by Adrianne richmonde is such an enjoyable read, full of sensual erotic scenes. The thing I liked most about this book is the fact that the H is 40 years old, was refreshing for a change to read a book where the H is closer to my age.. was a great romantic read, full of ups and downs as you would expect, nothing like 50 shades at all despite the similar name, a great read none the less.

I made it to Chp 13 because it was an audiobook playing in the background while I worked but...

Sweet Baby Jesus, how could anyone believe that Pearl is 40? 40 going on 13 maybe. As for Alexandre? 25 going on 70. He's like the pervy old uncle everyone keeps at a distance except dude happens to be good looking.

No, just no.
