A good selection to get started with engaging in reading. out of the 70 stories, I found that I really enjoyed Kildee House (Montgomery does absolutely amazing animal stories, every time), Mighty Mikko (Finnish tales tend to be a bit unique, it's sad that so few get shared), Princess and the Vagabone (This was a very new story to me, the princess having to prove her worth within the castle, not before she gets there), Call This Land Home (prairie days were brutal), The Four Brothers (Because Walter De La Mare delivers every time). But my highest praise goes to John Ruskin with King of the Golden River. It reads like it's up there with Lang and Grimm and Andersen.

I loved this book when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s. It was a gift from my grandparents. I loved that I could pick & choose different stories, and I remember staring at all of the pictures. I'm happy to have it now for my son.

We bought this book for our children when we had very little money. I don't remember the stories being real compelling, but it's a part of their childhoon
