Under A Painted Sky...a title that speaks volumes after you make it through this debut novel of Jenna Roads.

"When God paints the sky, he doesn not mess around."

Even though I only gave this book 3 of 5 stars - I did really enjoy it. Jenna does a lovely job at bringing her main characters to life and is amazing at making you feel like you can taste, hear, smell, and see everything that she's describing. New Mexico - if it is anything like Ms. Roads describes I have to get there!!

I am very excited about this book being released. It was definitely a work of heart. Isabella is 21 yrs old and after being married a very short time finds herself divorced by her husband and leaves town to escape the disgrace. She moves to beautiful New Mexico and meets a sexy tour guide Logan who shows her around town and all the sites of Albuquerque. She encounters paranormal activity when visiting the Petroglyphs and her life spirals out of control. I think I wrote a very original and exciti ...more

Jenna Roads did an outstanding job on her first novel. It was hard to put the book down (I did only one time). Isabella and Logan fall in love in the beautiful town of Albuquerque. When I read the book I felt like I was there. I loved the characters and the plot. Jenna Roads did a great job weaving the Spirit Warrior. Look forward to reading more about him in the next book. I recommend young adults and adults Under A Painted Sky for entertainment.

Jenna Roads takes us on the journey of a 21 year old girl who sets out to start her life over and gets so much more than she bargains for. This journey is set in New Mexico and is descriptively told. When you read it you feel like you are there. I could have used more paranormal activity but I'm sure more is to come from Jenna Roads! Great job! ...more

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book, thanks Jenna! First, I thought the descriptions of New Mexico were so beautiful! I really would love to visit there and go in a balloon someday. The mountains, the food, the tram ride, the balloons, all the scenery had such wonderful and rich descriptions and details that were truly poetic. I also like the supernatural twist that was added to the plot. I thought it was very creative and a nice change from a lot of YA paranormal that is out there. I ...more

I need to thank Jenna for letting me read this ARC.

Best part of the book: By far Logan is the best part of this book! Isabella is so lucky that her aunt paid for him to "show her around"! I loved the connection between Isabella and Logan! This was a bit of a different story than I normally read. Spirit/Ghost stories are not what I usually read; however, Jenna did a great job of keeping the story going and interesting. I really enjoy seeing the relationship between Logan and Isabella the most!! I

After a divorce with her high school sweetheart, Isabella flees to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her aunt is allowing her to stay the rest of her life if Isabella loves it. Isabella loves the place and feels at home immediately. Logan, the care taker, shows up to introduce himself and and lets her know that her aunt paid him to be her tour guide for a week. So Logan begins showing her around town, and both Isabella and Logan can't stop thinking about each other. They fall hard and quick for each othe ...more

I loved this book and the story author Jenna Roads shared with us. Her descriptions of New Mexico were so vivid and mesmerizing. I felt as if I could see the vibrant sunset and colorful hot air balloons dancing across the sky through Isabella and Logan's eyes. I can picture the vendors along the sidewalks selling their handcrafted jewelry made of turquoise and other stones. I could practically taste the many foods described in such yummy detail. I want to go to New Mexico now and feel the warmth ...more

I really enjoyed this book but I felt that it deserved 4 stars and not 5! Under A Painted Sky was the perfect length to keep me interested and not make me lose interest! I wouldn't have expected this book to have any paranormal aspect to it unless it didn't say it in the synopsis as it took a while for the paranormal stuff to start happening! The plot was pretty interesting and I learned so much about New Mexico from it! I also learned a lot about Indian and Native America cultures as well! Isab ...more

I would have loved to see a bit more paranormal in this! Jenna touches on it (Sadly I can’t say how! No spoilers allowed!) but I would have loved more! Also, I do really like the characters but the conversations threw me off a bit. It was clunky here and there. I wanted more of them! Although the characters are a lot of fun to read about. And the world that Jenna makes for us… Wow! I mean I’ve been to New Mexico, but the descriptions she adds in was brilliant.

And man! To have a pool boy show you

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Under a Painted Sky what a fitting name for a book that literally paints the sky for you. I fell in love with the New Mexico skyline and I've never seen it. As I continued reading I was amazed at how I became so familiar with somewhere I had never been. Jenna Roads does an amazing job of taking you through this story with every word as if the scenery were right in front of you.

Isabella is a very strong character who won me over from the start a

Jenna Roads is on her way to becoming an excellent author. This is her first book and she does a great job making you feel like you are right there with Isabella as she starts her life over after she gets a divorce. She takes you on a romantic journey with Isabella and Logan that takes a mysterious turn that is both exciting and heart warming.
Jenna describes the scenery in New Mexico so well that it makes you feel like you have been there before. After reading this book I would love to take a

This is such a sweet breakout novel! Careful, you might get a toothache with the sweetness and love Isabella and Logan form while Logan helps show her around her new home of NM! On one stop Isabella touches stones that were meant to stay sacred and be left untouched. Next thing Isabella knows she's experiencing encounters she never believed possible and brings her and Logan even closer as they try to solve the mystery of why this is all happening! Under a painted sky is the perfect name for this book. I fell in love with it since the very beginning, not only with the characters, but with the place and the way it makes you feel as if you were there. It's true when they say that being adventurous can take you places you can't ever imagine and that's exactly what happened to Isabella as she moves to New Mexico after being heartbroken, in hope to find a new life, what she never expected was to fall in love so soon, not only with the place, bu ...more

Under A Painted Sky may be the debut novel by Jenna Roads but it doesn't feel like it. She was able to write a wonderfully descriptive love story with a fun supernatural mystery. The descriptions of New Mexico were beautiful and made it easy for me to picture the setting in my mind. The descriptions made me want to visit New Mexico. The love story between Logan and Isabella was sweet and it was easy to see that they were meant to be together. I really enjoyed this book and will be reading the ne ...more

Under a Painted Sky is the first book in the Spirit Warrior Series by Jenna Roads. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this story very much. This was an interesting story, not at all what I was expecting. The concept of the Petroglyphs holding a link to the paranormal was definitely unique, and it was a twist that I didn't see coming. There was a creepiness factor as Isabella began to witness the inexplicable happenings in her aunt's home, and you definitely start questioning her sanity when no one else seems to see anything out of the ordinary. Thankfully, she had Logan, the handsome caretaker turned area tour guide, for support. Th ...more

I will say it took a little bit at first, there were a few grammatical errors in the beginning... now if there were more in the middle I missed them because I was enjoying reading the book! The book really took me to all the places in Albuquerque! It reminded me when I was in Old Town, rode on the Tram, watched the balloons as they prepared and launched for the annual balloon festival! It also reminded me of all the wonderful food in New Mexico! Wow, there was a lot about the food, but the food ...more

“Under A Painted Sky” is the first novel in what is anticipated to be a series called “Spirit Warriors”. I believe it is also the first published novel by independent author Jenna Roads. Ms. Roads tells the story of Isabella Reed, a divorced young woman who accepts an invitation from her aunt to pursue an escape and new start in New Mexico. I don't believe it'll be much of a spoiler to say that she gets both.

Ms. Roads pacing is deceptive. My original thought was that the book is developing very

This book was a good read, I am assuming it was written more for the young adult market as the main couple start professing some quite deep feelings on the basis of 2 kisses which is where it lost something for me, not that I needed a whole erotic chapter but maybe something more alluded too. It was really descriptive and I feel like I could use it as a tour guide for New Mexico!! The story was excellent with very subtle paranormal happenings at first but a good ending leading nicely into the co ...more

I really enjoyed this author's debut novel about love and mystery in New Mexico. The way she described the scenery was mesmerizing! I can just picture the beautiful sky, see the colorful hot air balloons, and feel the warm sun on my skin. I can smell and taste the peppery food and feel the breeze while watching the vivid sunset. I can see the Native Americans selling their beautiful masterpieces on the sidewalk. This is a big part of what made the book fun to read! I want to vacation there now!

I will start by saying that I tend to be a persnickety reader. But, this book was no disappointment. The moment I sat down to read it I was hooked until the last page.
Isabella Reed, a newly divorced twenty-one year old goes to New Mexico to escape from the shame of the past. While there she meets Logan Hayes, the caretaker of her Aunt Carol's home, where she is staying. Ancient petroglyphs pull her into a new, exciting world. Logan becomes her protector and more than that...

Couldn't do it.

This book was like watching high school student's home video that they made for film class. It was cringe-inducing.

I wanted something a bit ghostly and spooky after reading "Ghost Gifts" and unfortunately, this book let me down in a bad way.
