Rocking horse waits in your rock-a-bye room.

A mother soothes her daughter before bed as they say good night to all the things in her room—a rocking horse, dolls, blocks, and even the pictures on the wall—until it’s time to share a story and a kiss good night. With lulling rhymes and lush watercolors, Rock-a-Bye Room is a homespun

I am a sucker for a good bedtime story and this one is just beautiful. A mother is ready to tuck her daughter into bed by going through their nightly ritual of telling everything in her room good night. It uses a soothing rhyming theme with gorgeous, muted watercolor illustrations. As the little girl climbs onto her mother's lap for her bedtime story, the magic happens and the little girl imagines she is in a swing bed being lulled to sleep by her mother's reading. It would have been the kind of ...more

Watercolor goddess Amy Bates puts a rockabilly spin on this rhyming bedtime book. Amy Bates is on my very short list of artists who are magnificent at people - that's awkward, isn't it. Hm. Let's just say Amy Bates gets this year's Jan Ormerod Award (an award I just invented - the committee consists of ME) For Accuracy and Grace in Anatomical Representation. ...more
This rhyming bedtime book can be sung to the tune of "Rock-a-by Baby" making this a great read for babies and toddlers.

Pencil and watercolor illustrations are soothing and full of fun details like the dish and the spoon from favorite nursery rhymes. Infant-PreK.

Rock-a-billy mommas and poppas will love the rock-n-roll themed homage to Goodnight Room and Mother Goose. Easy to sing or read with a cadence. Stop and enjoy a Mother Goose rhyme as you move through.

dreamy and lovely pictures - the story went on just a page or three too long...on the verge of becoming tedious.

Good rhythm to the book, but hard for a young child to follow.

A beautiful picture book that is prime for sharing. Full of the sentiment of nursery rhymes of old, but gentle and flowing in its execution. Sure to be a bedtime favorite.
