Most young readers are intrigued by photograph-filled informational texts such as this one. With its focus on volcanoes and their enormous destructive power, the book is sure to prompt questions from young readers who may want to learn even more about the topic. They can even download a free digital book for more information and related activities. There is a breathless quality about the entire package, and readers may be interested to learn that scientists studying volcanoes have actually died in the line of duty.

Vivid pictures and illustrations will draw lots of attention to this book from young readers. While it does not go into great detail, it does give a lot of basic, important information; plus it has a link to a digital book with additional facts as well as interactive games and quizzes.
