There were some things I really liked about this book, but I also had some issues I had trouble getting past.

Leading with the positive, I absolutely loved the vignettes of the unaware soon-to-be-victims of the terrorist bombings. While each was slightly less jarring than the last -- the first was shocking -- they still provided a welcome point of view that most pop culture glosses over -- the innocent victims in any tragedy that would warrant calling in a government agent -- or in this case, a n

Freedom Alert is a great spy novel for even the most discerning reader. The book is very well written, the descriptions of the characters are great. The story has a great plot that keeps you guessing and has you on edge at times and as it's a relatively short novel I was able to finish it in a few hours. I read the advance copy of this book. Looooove it! Fresh new take on the whole genre. Yes it has a lot of violence, as a couple people elsewhwere said. And yes it is heartbreaking stuff. But this book goes where other authors like Rollins and Flynn can not - it goes deep into the lead character's head and goes full throttle ahead. There is not chapter and chapter of filler material that put you to sleep (Brad Thor's Blowback anyone?) You can tell the author is a better pure "writer" than most ot ...more

This was such an on-the-edge-of-your-seat book.

It really threw me or a loop because I just finished reading another book by this author from a totally different genre, and I really wasn't prepared for the use of language in this one. But that doesn't mean that this was a bad book. On the contrary, it was a GREAT one.

The characters that this author writes are always very colorful and very easy to picture in your mind. That is probably his best attribute. He really did his research too.
