Deng Xiaoping: Chronicle Of An Empire

Rate this book
"An inside view of how politics work in the era of Deng Xiaoping. Ruan Ming, who participated in the initial phase of China's reforms, has written an engrossing account of behind-the-scenes political machinations. It is the story of the fierce personal, political, and ideological struggles that have led China to its present course--economic reforms at the expense of political reforms".--Merle Goldman, Boston University. hu yaobang as china's lost savior argues his former speechwriter. Unique window into how words and theory matter in the CCP. Telling reading alongside Red Roulette how the quality and thoughtfulness of the types of disgruntled 'inside the system' books have fallen off over time.
