Almost half Dalí's illustrations in this book have rarely been seen This publication presents the entire painted oeuvre of Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). After many years of research, Robert Descharnes and Gilles Néret finally located all the paintings of this highly prolific artist. Many of the works had been inaccessible for years - in fact so many that almost half the illustrations in this book have rarely been seen.
Dali a Surrealist of erotic, and bizarre, dark and sometimes gruesome. A man a little on the conceited side, but if I painted this art I would hold my chin a little higher too. Some paintings I recognized from when I was a kid like The Persistence of Memory. If you get a chance do some page flipping in one of Dali's collections.
Quotes from Dali "For me, the erotic must always be ugly, the aesthetic always divine and death always beautiful"

As an individual who is very interested in the artistic world, The Illustrated biography of Salvador Dali was very appealing to me. the book is organised into 4-5 stages of the artist's life, providing informative text alongside images of Dali's life, home, partner and work. It was particularly interesting to see the connections between the evolution of Dali's art and how his personal life/contextual influences correlated. This aspect gave an insight into the artist's mind and process, allowing the reader to connect more deeply with the artwork he produced.
In fiecare dimineata cand ma trezeam, simteam o bucurie constienta: bucuria de a fi Salvador Dali si, plin de nerabdare, ma intrebam ce lucru minunat va mai infaptui astazi acest Salvador Dali. // Naluca sex-appeal-ului *****
Good book. We all know Dalí’s painting skills and imagination were out of this world. Disappointed by his catholic fase and the racism of his dislike for African Art.
I really love Dali's work. I've read a bit on his life and he's an interesting person as well. I'm not one to remember past artist's names and be able to distinguish what's Monet and what's Picasso etc, but Dali is one I can usually spot and I always like.
Not only were the illustrations and painting stunning but Dali is a fascinating artist to read about. He has been my favorite since I was a Freshman in high school (1997). You can easily distinguish his work from any other artist and his art leaves a lasting memory that will never be forgotten
A very complete timeline. Much of his work is shown. A significant portion of the text are either Dalís own quotes, or quotes from others who spoke of him and/or his work. At the very least this book has inspired me to read other books written by Dalí.
Uno de mis favoritos cuando niña y la mejor parte de este libro es que lo conforman historias de pequeños lectores creando su propia nocion de el fisico, la crianza, y el talento de este gran pintor
