Kay Crandall taught for two years at Garden State High before she moved away and got married. Now, eight years later, she is back for a school reunion. At the reunion Kay runs into an old student of hers (Donny Rubel, who was very unattractive and unpopular). She tried to help him out back then but he misread her intentions, and now he is deluded into thinking they have a future together because she happened to be kind to him all those years ago. Donny abducts Kay and takes her away to a rundown, secluded house and plans to make her his wife. Will Kay’s husband and friends be able to find her in time?
I really enjoyed this short mystery suspense story. I had a hard time putting this book down, I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. I liked the way all the students and Kay’s friends pulled together to try to help in finding her.
This was another terrific story by Mary Higgins Clark with interesting characters and tense situations.
This story is classic Mary Higgins Clark and this is a timeless tale, originally written in 1987, could easily be read today, and still work flawlessly. One thing I love about Clark, she does not use a lot of curse words, nor does she over-sexualize every scene. Its just plan good writing and its a pure delight to read her books.
This story is about an 8 year obsession that boils over at a class reunion, but its from a student to a teacher, not another student. This teacher was nice to Donny and he misread those intentions and for the last 8 years has been planning a future with her, only one thing is stopping him, one she is already married, two, he has to kidnap her if he even wants a chance, then he has to force her to marry him...easy, right? In the meantime, her husband is looking for her, trying to convince people she did not just walk out on their marriage.
Omg! This book is amazing! Highly recommended it. It was the first Mary Higgins Clark story I have read and I was so shocked it was so brilliant, I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know how everything ends I was so anxious reading the 10 last pages. I am not going to say anything more but it was a great book! I will certainly read more of Mary Higgins Clark books now
This was an intriguing, twisted plot centered around a class reunion and the relived traumas that are often associated with high school life, that scar some people for life.
