"It's like Buffy on steroids." - Benjaminoftomes, YouTube

My blood is toxic to vampires . . .

If there's one thing I want, it's go get off this iceberg. I'm thinking college on the east coast. ANYWHERE besides Alaska.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents jump in and save my life in exchange for my services as a vampire hunter. Did they just say v

I LOVED how saucy this book was. It fitted perfectly into the story and was the cherry on top of this dark world that Aurora has been introduced into.

I loved the characters i needed to love and hated others. i need to read the rest of this series!

Aurora Sky (Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #1) by Nikki Jefford is a different kind of vampire story. Aurora is a teen that dies in a car crash and is brought back by a group (government?) that changed her blood that made her blood poison to vampires. She has to be a vampire hunter or she doesn't get the shot a month to keep her alive. Too bad the guy she meets and falls in love with is a vampire. Fun read. ...more

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. I made the mistake of thinking it was an adult book because is says 18+ but it's all set in high school and there's nothing I hate more than petty high school squabbles. Sorry to say I won't be reading book 2. So disappointing. ...more
4.5 "A New Bite on Life" Stars for the story and narration!

Move over Buffy, there is a new teenage vampire huntress in town! Given that YA vampire romance is how I became hooked on audiobooks (yes, you know which series I'm talking about: )) and that I watched nearly every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer way back in the day, I'm ecstatic to say that I have found a new vampire series to dig my teeth into: Aurora Sky! Book 1 in the series does a fabulous job of setting up this creative take on

Well written

Well written, great characters, easy to read and is excellent and exciting. A strong well written, and put together book. I'm VERY glad I came across this on Amazon. A great start for a series.

This has been a book I've seen recommended a lot so I'm glad I finally found the time to begin this series. I'd thought it was aimed at a younger audience with its teenage heroine Aurora, but actually there's content here that does have more adult tones.
Essentially Aurora is one of the very few that have a rare blood type and with a bit of scientific jiggling her blood can be poisonous to vampires. Now that was an angle I hadn't seen before so I was very interested to see how far this storyline

I blame Amazon for making this book free and letting me waste my time. So boring. I hate high school paranormal stories. More often that not it's always follows the same plot, it gets boring. Not interested in continuing the series. ...more

Aurora Sky is a normal high school senior with dreams of attending college and getting as far as she can from Alaska. She’s been accepted to Notre Dame and she has six more months to go until she is free.

Then the accident happens. Aurora has a head-on collision on an icy road and she wakes up in a government facility where she learns she almost died and they used extraordinary measures to save her life. Why? Because Aurora is very special and they want her to work for them. Her blood is toxic to

I had so much hope for this book, I was really excited to read it but I got 54% in and I could not read another page. I felt like the premise was really interesting with a girl who was genetically altered to be a vampire hunter but when said girl is so unlikable it made it really tough to get through.

Aurora, the main girl was just all over the place. She was snotty, rude, reckless, and lacking any real charm to be able to pull off such traits. What struck me was that I could never determine the

If you are a vampire/vampire hunter book lover, then I think this book would be for you. I really enjoyed the story and the writing style of Nikki Jefford. The new concept of the vampire hunter that she brought along really caught my attention. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next installment! I definitely think you should give this book a try :)

As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed the new concept that Nikki Jefford had with the vampire hunters. The whole blood transfusion/v
The overall story was not bad. However Aurora was a problem for me. She was stupid, childish, and annoying. I found myself annoyed or angry with her throughout the book. When I find myself feeling these things about the main character I just can't be okay with a book. The only good thing about this book was the ending. ...more

Reasons why I did not like this book:
○ the writing itself was boring and not engaging.
○ the plot itself was rather confusing and there was no build up or tension to anything, everything just happened like the author was ticking things off a list.
○ the characters were quite shallow, and half the book was just meaningless teenage squabbling. Not fun to read.

I'm Hooked!

High school sucks, no matter where you are, and if you're stuck in a small town in Alaska, buried in snow and constantly freezing your tush off, it's even worse. Who wouldn't want to leave, right? And no one wants to blow this popsicle stand more than Aurora Sky. She's got six months until she graduates and she is counting every second.

And then it happens. The terrible car accident that forever changes her life and makes her dre

There is SO MUCH I want to say about this book, trying to decided where to start is tricky… but I will start with Aurora. I think you can look at the kind of books I give high marks to and it’s pretty obvious I like characters with a good sense of humour. I loved Auroras inner voice and how strong her personality came through. She clearly has been through a rough patch, almost dying and finding about

There’s a new vampire hunter in Anchorage Alaska, and she’s fiercer than Buffy and Angel combined.

It’s been a while since I read about vampires and assassins that not only kick butts but also bring justice and revenge when needed. It’s been a while since I’ve watched Vampire Diaries which gave me my bloody dose of supernaturals.

And now, I got to meet Aurora Sky and boy, does she put the Buffy to shame.

I bought this book because it sounded interesting and amazon had the price As a 63-year-old woman, I don't find teenage love stories to be all that exciting. And once I got into the book, I was afraid it was going to be another Twilight. Fortunately, for me, the author did not just rip off another story. In fact, Nikki Jefford wrote a unique story.

Yes, there was a teenage girl. Yes, there were vampires over a hundred years old trolling a high school for young girls. BUT that's wher

I loved this whole new take on Vampires, it so different, and I really liked that. I am so anxious now for book 2, lol.

It’s like a YA version of Night Huntress, ok, not exactly, as its very different, but it sure was really good like those books. There were many twist in this book I did not see coming.

I also love how it takes place in Alaska, I spent over a week there before, (In July, when it stays daylight most of the time) and I have friends there, who I have learned a lot on the darkness and

Girl nearly dies, girl gets saved by Government Agents, girl turns into lethal vampire killing machine, girl falls in love with blood sucking hottie. What's not to jump at there? It's like a Buffy and Alias mash up. Yes, please!!

Aurora Sky started out really strong. It’s about a girl who gets into a fatal car crash, and is revived on a military base. They renewed a lot of her important organs, but there was a catch. They also implanted a virus in her body. Now Aurora must get mandatory shots in order to stay alive. They put this virus in Aurora’s body so that her blood will be fatal to any vampire who bites her and sucks her blood. But Aurora doesn’t want this li

What I liked: The origin or the vampires and how they came about was different from what I had expected. Honestly, I hadn't even expected any form of an explanation about where vampires came from so that was an interesting tidbit to have. The story was well paced, and while I had a few hangups about the overall plot of the story it was interesting and I really enjoyed it. Aurora was a good character to follow, although I didn't always understand her actions in the book. I feel like she didn't sh ...more

I love the note under the blurb. Beware reader folk, this book has blood sucking!

I read this book December 2013 and since getting into book reviewing, I managed to beg demand convince ask the author for the next books in the series. And she pulled through! So it only stands to reason that I'm anxious to do her proud for entrusting me with this entire series. And you can't say 'this series' without wanting to add 'fabulous' in the middle. They really are.

- Um, the grammar was okay, I guess

- The plot, the characters, the setting. Everything.
- Didn't buy the romance. Not even a little. It was shallow and horrible. Nope.
- Aurora so so whiney. If they could have picked a worse vampire hunter, it would have been a miracle. She's ungrateful that they saved her. Even if she didn't want to work for them, she should at least be thankful f

Deal or Duped: Deal

I will post the full review this Friday, but I think the book will not be Free by the time the review goes live. Because this book is a mediocre novel, entertaining because of the characters, but failing within the plot and writing skills - it is a great Freebie grab, but I probably would have been much harsher in my views toward it if I would have paid full price. I really did like the character of Aurora and saw the great potent
