Melanie in Manhattan

For once, Mel is spending her vacation on her home turf—Manhattan! But she’s not alone. Miguel, the cute boy she met in Spain, is visiting New York, and this time Mel gets to be his tour guide. From the Empire State Building to the Statue of Liberty, from the Central Park Zoo to the Brooklyn Bridge, Mel and Miguel are off on their own adventures. But—uh-oh!—
Mel also meets a boy in math class. And while she is learning lots about the Big Apple, she is also learning it’s harder than you think to like two guys at one time.

Though, this book looks like a childish read it is infact a great read to get your mood more cheerful. The Eleven year-old Melanie Martin lives in Manhattan with her little brother Matt the Brat, her mom and dad and their pet mice. The family has just returned from spring break in Spain, where Melanie met Miguel, the son of her mom's ex-boyfriend. Melanie dreams of seeing him again and anxiously awaits his emails. Though she would love to see Miguel again she also dreams about another boy Justin. It is a cute novel about a little girls first crushes. It is a fun, quick, refreshing read.

I really liked this book, but not as good as With Love From Spain, Melanie Martin. But this one is very funny too.

I think this book was a good book because their was a girl who goes to manhattan and talks about how she likes the place and she writes in her journal everyday about what happen in manhattan while she is their. I would recommend this book to young girls who like to write in journals about their life like the book could relate them to the book. I also think this book is very interesting because she struggles to stay chill becuause her brothers annoy her and she writes about it.

Met the author when I was working at her Yale 30th reunion. Picked up one of the other books in her series (the Spain one, of course), and was surprisingly engrossed in this children's novel. Fun stuff, and lots of good drawings and fun text, diary style. For children though!
