"Knitting Knee-Highs" is an amazing book for intermediate to advanced knitters. There's a great diversity in the patterns, some are very bold color work patterns, while others are subtle and textured in neutral colors.

I absolutely love how the author encourages the reader to try new things. She doesn't just say, "Oh you could make these socks shorter," she gives you clear instructions on how to adapt any of her knee high patterns to socks or legwarmers. I'm impressed with the number of patterns

From the Goodread's book synopsis:

"In this book, author Barb Brown takes sock knitting to new heights by teaching you the ins and outs of knitting knee-highs, a popular sock, but one that needs more explanation than most books and magazines give it.

Here, in the first book on the topic, you will learn how to size these socks as you knit them, with 20 great patterns to pick from. Each of the 20 knee-high patterns comes with a variation that features that design in a different color and style of s

The book begins with a knee-high formula for you to use to get an accurate fit. There is also info that helps you convert a normal sock pattern to a knee high and tips and tricks for custom fitting. This information will prove very helpful in creating knee-highs for yourself or others.

Each pattern in this book is shown in at least two different ways. One pattern will be knit as a knee high and then converted to an ankle sock. Another will be a knee high and converted to a regular sock or a leg w

Book Review: Knitting Knee-Highs Sock Styles from Classic to Contemporary, by Barb Brown

I would suggest the book: Knitting Knee-Highs – Sock Styles from Classic to Contemporary, by Barb Brown to an advanced knitter who both knits and reads patterns well. I decided to check this book out because I am very interested in knit socks and would love to knit a pair for myself or my daughter. I did find that it contained more advanced patterns that what I am ready for. I will need to teach myself more a

There are lots of great colorwork patterns here, very traditional. One classic Turkish pattern is featured. Some lace work. One that I think I may use.

The best part: they show how each pattern can modified to an anklets, a sock or a legwarmer!
