The Tall Lady with the Iceberg: The Power of Metaphor to Sell, Persuade & Explain Anything to Anyone

Rate this book
Billions of dollars are left on the table and hundreds of ideas fail to get off the ground every day because of the over-communicated society in which we live. Salespeople, managers, consultants, CEOs, and even the president of the U.S. are constantly challenged to pierce through this information clutter to get others to see the unique value of their services, explanations, and propositions. Metaphor in all its forms-visual language-solves that problem. Join the ranks of five-star metaphor makers and salespeople like Ronald Reagan, Jack Welch, and Steve Jobs. Learn how to weave the magic of metaphor into your business arguments to: sell an idea, vaporize objections, clear up confusion, wow an audience, shake up indifference, inspire action, close a sale, make your point. Packed with more than two-hundred-and-fifty examples from contemporary business, politics, and media, The Tall Lady with the Iceberg provides a unique Four-Step Model to show anyone easily and quickly how to become a master of metaphor.

I really enjoyed this book.
I presented me what I wanted. Why I need to use metaphors more and how to do it.

It sparked an avalanche of inspiration, leaving many papers with an abundance of notes.
It also reminded me that the best and most common praise I get for my writing, is when I use metaphors.

Apparently I don't need the training wheel. I just need to add metaphors in my writing prices, like a athlete needs to remind herself to drink water.

Great read. I love the exercises and have my staff read the book. Every day I think about methods and keeping my method log. It makes you think and understand how people make decisions.

Excellent book. Never imagined you could use metaphors in so many situations including business, pitches, and communication in a way that the book explains. Great examples as well.

A good book on how metaphors can be used in many situations. Provides basic guidelines on what to look out for when building them. Gives directions for building presentations with metaphors and how to hook audiences with them. It would be useful to anyone who's looking for information and tips to build effective metaphors.
