First, I must say that this novel kept me awake at night. The violence described in this book is real, something I frequently see and hear in the suburb of Paris where I live. But, what makes this story beautiful is that, although the story is told along a line of seeking vengeance, the bottom-line of the story is transformation of Martin, the protagonist.

What caught my heart from the beginning is this: Martin is aware that his way of dealing with his brother’s death is wrong; he wants to change

I just started reading this book, and so far I'm liking it. Because I love Bluford Highschool Series Books and also because this book is interesting. This book is about a boy named Martin Luna whose brother passed away because of a shoot out some immature men had. He told his mother he was going to get revenge, she told him not even though she knew he wasn't going to listen to her. He still promised her she won't and is still trying to find who killed his brother who was so innoce

Brothers in Arms was an amazing book! I enjoyed reading this book. There was a boy named Martin who was a thug. One day Martin was hanging out with his friend Frankie and his other homies. Martin's little brother, Huero, was riding his tricycle to go to Martin. Martin told him to go home, but when he was going home, some guys in a white car started shooting at them. Huero was going to save Martin but Huero got shot in the head. This was the saddest part of the book. But it will make you read it ...more

The book Brothers in Arms by Paul Langan is an intense realistic fiction book that lets you see how life would be like as a gang member. In the book Brothers in Arms the main character is a 16 year old gang member named Martin Luna. Martin has a little 6 year old brother named Huero. One day when Martin was hanging out with his gang, Huero followed them. The gang was hanging out and noticed Martin’s brother was following them. So Martin started yellin

“Brothers in arm” by Paul Langan and Ben Alirez is a really good book that inspires me. Martin Luna is a sixteen year old that lives with his mother and little brother Huero. Martin’s dad used to hit his mom when he was young therefore they got divorced. Martin hanged out with the big and bad guys who drank and smoked. Huero looked up to Martin even though Martin would always send him home when he was around his friends. One afternoon Huero came with Martin and Martin send him back home , Huero ...more

This book is about a boy named Martin Luna who has a very troubling time in his life. He has lost his brother named Huero that has been shot for no reason. Now Martin wants revenge for the death of his brother with the help of his friends. In “Brothers in Arms” Paul Langan uses: symbolism, 1st person narrator, and description to explain the motivation of the main character.

At first I notice on page 26 the quote said “At one point, I turned over and felt something hard poking me in the back of th

I have read the book, Brothers in Arms, and realized that there were many problems involved in the story. It started off with Martin Luna who has a hispanic teenager who recently had his younger brother, Huego, shot in the head by a group of gangsters. Martin suffered a lot after this happened. His mother blamed him for everything since he was the older one and he was supposed to take care of him. Brothers in arms was truly captivating from the first page to the last it kept me on the balls of my feet read. It gives you inside view on a colored high school student and his experience living as a minority. It puts you in the shoe of the main character.

"I couldn't let go of Huero when the medics arrived...I wasn't going to give up on my little brother but inside I knew he was gone and in a way so was I"

His mom realizes that he needs to get away from the bad influences in the barrio so she makes him move with her to the other side of town. Martin has to go to bluford high school and meets Vicky, and also a jock named steve.
