some of the book smells a bit like civil war reenacor weirdness (but a civil war that involves hunting seals with kayaks of course), with a few leanings away from practicality and towards historical accuracy, and the scantlings are a a bit on the heavy side, but overall it's a useful reference to have on hand while building.

I have built 4 kayaks using Cunninghams book. Very well researched and written.

The back cover said it would take a couple of weekends.

It actually took me nearly three years.

But great book. Lots of fun. Very inspirational.

Not nearly as correct as Harvey Golden's books, but got a lot of enjoyment out of it.
