When Caribou tells Polo that his mother loves him with all her heart, Polo is curious. How is this possible? he wonders. He asks several of his Arctic friends how their mothers love them. Polo the small polar bear is on a mission, to find out if his mother loves him, and to see if his other friends, moms love them as well. It is very important that Polo finds out if his mother truly does love him with all her heart but he wants confirmation from others first. When Polo meets up with his mother, we find out that his mother's love is even greater than just loving him with all his heart!

This book has been around with me for a while and the images are very cute! You can tell that this polo bear is very curious and just wants to know how much his mom really loves him! This book made me feel so happy and excited for other kids to read this book. I believe this book is catered to very young children who are always asking questions and always want that confirmation. As kids, we all wanted to make sure our moms and dads loved us and this book has a cute way of showing that. This book reminds me of a lot of parenting books that talk about loving your child.

Polo wanted to know what it meant to love someone with all your heart and so he set off to ask his mother. Felix the seal said that his mother loved him with all her flipper and Jessie the wolf said that his mother loved him with all her teeth. This book would be great to talk to children about love and different kinds of families. A good extension activity would be for children to pick a family member, draw a picture of them, and write/dictate to their teacher how their family member loves them.

Love is such a wonderful thing as expressed in this lovely book. It is always nice to show how parents and babies interact with each other in the animal world. Kids from newborns to 4 year olds love to express their feelings to their caregivers, so this is a nice way to illustrate how these feelings are universal. Print motivation and print awareness are both support in this text.
