I have been consumed by this romance in all the best ways. Why is this the first I've really heard about this author? Someone should have grabbed my ear and forced my head in front of one of her books. All together, this read landed on my top five list of favorite romances in 2023, if not my absolute #1 read. Looking at author and reader recommendations, it seems I started with the last duet in this world. I fell head over heels in love with all of the Royals. This crime society started with five original mafia families that maintained their power a century later. They are loyal to each other above and beyond everyone and everything else. Aurora Vitali didn’t grow up wealthy or a part of the mafia despite her father's wishes. When she moves to New York, her life changes in so many ways. Learning about the Society and her new role within it brings a new reality, especially after meeting the Royals when she begins her senior year of high school. Donata, Enzo, Rex, and Santino are all the heir apparent of their perspective families. Mrs. Hicks created a mafia world with a fresh take on it all. I mean that because each character goes above and beyond what I've been used to while reading this trope. From the prequel to the last page of this last duet, I absolutely could not put the book down for any amount of time. There was non-stop action, angst, and appeal. Despite not having read the three previous duets, I never felt lost. I can’t wait to dive into those in the new year. The plot was intricate and layered with many moving parts weaved together seamlessly. I admired the found family aspect of the Royals. They were brought together by purpose as they each face a future already planned out for them. Each one had his or her own unique personality that surprised me in many ways. From each character and the plot surrounding them, I could never predict what would occur & with 700+ pages, that's incredible. This world has something for everyone. Its mafia romance with bullying, enemies-to-lovers, arranged marriage, and dark seeds of revenge, all weaved around the imagination evoked from the best fairy tales. While reading Enzo and Aurora's romance, you will feel Romeo and Juliet with aspects of Cinderella and others. You will be sufficiently entertained if nothing else. I highly recommend this read. I would begin with Donata's duet, "Wicked Night," followed by Rex's "King of Beasts" and Santino's "Big Bad Wolf". Then finally Enzo's "Fallen Raven Duet". This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Fallen Raven Audiobook Part 1
4.2⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️& 2 🌶️🌶️. I’ll start by admitting I haven’t read this series “In order” but they are interconnected standalones so that should be fine. I’ve only done king of beast and this so far. At first it wasn’t clear how they were connected and my brain was confused as to who was who. I think I have gathered this is set before king of beasts. As Enzo only once mentions his younger sister “Caterina Alfera”, and he is only 18 (I think) so that was when the penny dropped. This is big Bro. Aurora Vitali is bought into the fold on a whim of one of her fathers schemes. She’s an outsider as doesn’t know anything about the mafia world. She starts at a high school for the elite and she meets the gang. She does have moments of being fairly naive to potential dangers. There was a sexual assault scene in this so be warned if this is a trigger for you. It was not by the MMC. You can tell there is a younger set of characters in this, in contrast to king of beasts. This is not my favourite so this affected the experience a little for me.

One thing that was different about this, is that there is no “bullying” amongst the MMC and his friends which is normally the case in these high school darker romances. Enzo is a cutie pie to Aurora really. I listened to the audiobook and liked the narrators. Aurora is of course an innocent virgin, but her first time with Enzo in this was beautiful. It was done tastefully. I couldn’t get the titanic out of my head though with this sapphire necklace business.

Around the last 10 chapters you get to see the events that lead up to Rex Valentino taking over the society and how this leads up to the beginning of the king of beasts duet.

Fallen Raven Audiobook Part 2
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️& 3🌶️🌶️🌶️. This opens around 10 years after the events of part 1. The ending of the previous book is a bit of a cliffhanger and I honestly didn’t really know where the story would go. The opening chapters made my brain catch up to how this links with the king of beasts duet. It was indeed prequel to the first duet.

I was kindly sent the audiobooks by the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

**Spoilers**
Even though it’s kinda toxic, I actually prefer Enzo’s character in this. His edges have definitely been hardened after loosing the FMC. He has really grown into his don dom role and I love his masculine sassy dominating vibe. He’s an ass to “rose” in the beginning though, I can’t really understand why they “hate” each other so much. I know there was clearly a lot of misinformation and double crossing going on, so maybe they have been played on eachother. The surprise pregnancy trope did take me off guard and it is not something I enjoy that much. I just think it’s a bit of a cheap excuse to change the plot but I’ll forgive it because it made things a little more complex in terms of the characters decision making. The mr best friend stealing yo gurl angle was not expected tho. I wasn’t expecting Rex to develop feelings for her!

One thing I do have an issue with is how instantly “rose” gave into Enzo’s sexual demands. Surely if she hated him that much and wanted to escape to her son she would have refused somehow? I’m just a little disappointed she didn’t fight it more. She obviously wants him ALOT and he’s obviously irresistible. I also struggled a little with the time jumps but I caught on eventually.

I listened to the audiobook and loved that it was consistent with the same narrators as the first instalment and same style. I was impressed with how the voice actors cleverly aged up the characters. One thing about this series is it’s incredibly cleverly woven between each duet. I’m pretty sure it’s on purpose that it makes you want to read previous duets again just to re-connect the dots.

There was one error with this ARC audiobook in chapter 30 around the 12 minute mark, where it repeated a phrase same for Ch31 @ 13 mins. I swear I had noticed it before too once or twice but I thought it was just me! Overall I did enjoy this, but I did really struggle to stay engaged with the plot enough to follow it to the best of its ability. I will definitely be rereading as I have the physical books ordered at the RARE signing so I’m hoping it will all click once I read them in order again.

This audiobook was wonderful!! New to me author, Diana A. Hicks wrote an angst, family feud, star-crossed lovers romance set at an elite high school in New York. Enzo and Aurora (Rory) run into each other when she’s fresh in New York and shopping for school. They wind up in school together and she finds herself in the drama of the five families of the mafia because of her father’s wrong-doings. They still manage to fall in love and have a whirlwind of a story to get to their happily ever after. The narration is spot on and Dane Anderson and Rose Dioro do a wonderful job bringing voice to these characters and making the experience immersive.

These are a duet and require reading book 1 before book 2 because it picks up 11 years after book 1. Thanks for the audiobook Diana and Indie Pen, hope to read more of your books in the future!!

𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙮 (𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙡)

Ooohhh.... What a great series starter this one was.
Dark Beauty is the prequel to the Fallen Raven duet which features Enzo Alfera and Aurora Vitali.

Aurora aka Rory is suddenly thrust into this new world of wealth and power as her father gets a promotion which sounds about as fishy as she knows her father's deeds to be.

But she has no option to opt out as her family are now under the protection of Don Alfera, one of the five dons of The Society.

While getting used to this new way of life going shopping at expensive stores and meeting powerful people, Rory encounters a mystery man while she randomly wanders into Tiffany's store.

Ooohhh.... I totally get Rory and her fascination with her mystery man who turns out to be...😱😻😻

Also, how will Rory adjust to this new life while what will happen now after what happened. So can't wait to find out.

I'm eagerly looking forward to jumping into book 1 of this series. Loved this one.❤️❤️❤️

Just finished book 1 and Oh my freaking Goodness...😲😲😲. I'm feeling a huge wave of all these mixed emotions right now and definitely need a minute or more to get my head straight after what happened.

First off, Just read this one as it is a fcking epic love story and definitely a delicious one with a twist if we are talking about Romeo and Juliet vibes but add in lots of devious secrets and wild twists and I'm definitely banking on an HEA in the next book unlike Romeo and Juliet.

Enzo and Aurora, where do I even begin with these two.
I read the prequel before starting this one, and I was over the top excited to dive into this one.
But honestly, I did not expect Enzo and Aurora' s story to have shook me oh so much.

So the plot goes that life all of a sudden changes for Aurora aka Rory when her up-to-no-good father gets a huge promotion out of nowhere and suddenly their life changes from living in a motel to shopping at Chanel stores.

As an obedient girl, Rory goes along with whatever she's told to do even when it involves getting used to being part of The Society headed by the five dons.

Rory knows that her father is the worst kind and she prepares for when she will be also married off to a man of her father's liking.

Though what Rory never anticipated was someone like Enzo Alfera coming into her life like a storm.

I liked how we get to experience new places, new friendships and new experiences along with Rory. As Rory sees how the children of the wealthy live a prestigious and entitled life, she tries her best to gel in.

I seriously was glued to the pages, especially as we near those last chapters, my goodness, was I turning the pages like a maniac with all jaw-dropping twists that were happening.

Ahhh...I'm seriously in a hurry and so eager to start the next one especially after the Mother of a cliffy that has left me absolutely stunned and shocked and I don't know what will happen next. Can't wait to find out. Loved freaking loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

EPIC FREAKING EPIC. This one has absolutely blown me away and I couldn't have even guessed to the extremes this one would take me.😲😻😻🤯🤯

We meet Enzo and Aurora now, years later, battling their own demons even after all this time. Because we are not even close to understanding the deep entangled web of secrets and lies that have been spun around them both, unaware of the level of danger surrounding them.

Enzo is now Don Alfera and drinks away his time in fantasy of loving his soulmate and other times being the ruthless and fearful leader that he is now.

Aurora has a completely different life now to what she was prior to the tragedy that robbed her of everything precious in her life.
A twist of needful circumstances brings Aurora back, right where it all started years ago.

Enzo had all but given up on ever finding anything resembling love, and now bids his time for revenge only on the one who stole everything away from him.
But never did he think, that the ghost of his past would become a reality and smack him in the face when he's least expecting it.

Now Enzo has to race against time and also battle his own basic nature and his raw emotions, if he doesn't want to lose his entire world all over again.

But the stakes this time are at an all time high, and one wrong move might wreck it all.

OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS..... I was wrecked, I cried and then hoped against hope and I must have felt an avalanche of emotions reading this one.

On one hand, my mind was spinning with the secrets that were blasting left and right, leaving me stunned and shocked and on the other hand, I was yearning with all my heart for Enzo and Aurora to be able to be together without the shadows of their enemies.

The Steaminess in this one was so deliciously raw and unrestrained wild love and a yearning passion that has been hungry for years.
Enzo made me gulp with his unapologetic desires and his mannerisms were goosebumps inducing with the way he wanted to own and love Aurora.
Ahhhh.... I was definitely melting from the Spicy hotness🔥🥵🥵

A MUST READ ROLLERCOASTER RIDE of two lovers all wanting to just be together but get embroiled in Dangerous Mafia Politics and Family Legacies and unknowingly becoming Chess pieces in a deadly game of Throne Wars and Obsession of a Madman all played by one Master player after another.

A truly magnificently written Romance that is Angsty on fire Wild ride of a Yearning love and destinies crossed inevitably.
Loved freaking loved loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The first book with the couple in high school is pretty good, but the second book ruins all of it. Their son is missing and they're still having sex with no worries. After the guy finds out he has a son, his first question isn't "where tf is he?" Why is Vittoria letting Angelo get away with everything? What happened to the FMC's little brothers? They were briefly mentioned in the first book and never brought up again. The sibling "relationship" between MMC and his sister is sidelined - because yes, it is normal for people in relationships to get stuck between people they care about. And the fact that he blames his ex-best friend for the love of his life dying and his sister is marrying that guy would definitely cause issues in the relationship.

This duet had so much potential, but it was ultimately lackluster.

Torn Apart by Secrets

The narrators did a great job representing the characters emotions and nuances. I found that each chapter brought out a new change of voices as other characters were brought into the plot. The first book starts with Aurora and Enzo in high school establishing their connection and love for each other. Tragedy strikes and leaves the reader with a cliffhanger that is later resolved in book 2 10 years later. There was so much going on throughout this duet that have you in tears, both from anger and sadness. I enjoyed the fact that Enzo was still deeply in love with Aurora even after what he thought happened to her. Their love was strong and unwilling to die. The journey to get what they deserve was filled with betrayal, danger, suspense and miscommunication.

I received an Audio ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.

This is a new author for me. This was an audio version for me. I prefer when there is a man and women conversation , both the male and female reader are taking turns vs the male character trying to do a female voice. The first book was just okay for me. I have read many mafia tropes and love them. However, this book felt more like a YA novel. It starts with them in high school and goes the stages and drama of high schoolers. It ends in a cliffhanger so be prepared.

Book two happens 10 years later. This was definitely much better. Through all Enzo and Aurora had been through, they finally get to be together. Enzo loved Aurora intensely and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. Good ending to a story.

It really doesn’t get much better than this . Aurora and Enzo’s love story all in one place . To he completely up front I had already read Aurora and Enzo’s duet separately. But when I found out Diana was putting thie duet in a box set well I just had to reread it . It’s one of the best duets I’ve read in such a long time . A emotional rollercoaster that will make you feel so many different emotions, keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting so much more . It’s beautifully written and emotionally charged. It’s dark and raw and gritty not to mention steamy and filled with some of the most captivating and complex characters you’ll ever meet . Quite simply it’s a must read 💜

Love that can survive the test of time and distance!

Enjoyed the book of Aurora and Enzo's story.

The story spans a decade of love, hurt, grief and perseverance. If you enjoy stories about Mafia, then you will like this story. I have to warn you if you don't like lots of sex and cursing, then this isn't for you.

This is my honest review.

Fallen Raven Duet contains the books Dark Beauty: Prequel and Fallen Raven Books 1 And 2. I am obsessed with this series, and this book was suspenseful, action-packed, scorching hot angst, and some crazy twists and turns. This book is a dark college mafia, star-crossed lovers romance, and touches on dark themes and topics. I don't think my heart has ever been put through so much in a book before, and I loved it from their beginning to the end. I loved the whole world that Diana A Hicks has created. It is dark and exciting. I loved the rollercoaster of emotions I felt throughout all of these books. I love her writing style; she is gritty and raw and puts her all into these books. She had me laughing and crying; I felt my heart break and pick up speed, excited to see what would happen next.

Aurora was one smart cookie throughout this duet. She was loyal and determined to get what she wanted. Enzo was guarded, dedicated to his family, and stubborn. The paths each character took in this book were heartbreaking and heartwarming. I couldn't put this duet down until I got to the end. I loved all the twists and turns, the mysteries, and the spice; I was hooked. Their chemistry in both books was like two magnets being drawn together. This book gave me Romeo and Juliet with a bit of Beauty and the Beast mixed in. I loved the thrilling ride of the Society and can't wait to see what this author brings next. -By Brooke

We are introduced to seventeen year old Aurora Vitali whose family lives in Las Vegas.
Her parents want to hobnob with higher society.
And finally their wish comes true when Aurora’s father scores with the head of the Alfera mafia family.
Moving from the only life she knows to suddenly being in the Upper East Side of New Yourk has Aurora in a tailspin. Her whole life has been drastically changed and altered.
One of the changes is the elite school where all the mafia and rich kids attend.
And that is where she meets Enzo Alfera.
Aurora wants to keep a low profile and not draw attention to herself.
And part of that is to stay away from Enzo.
But their paths keep crossings and the attraction she feels towards him is like a magnetic field, she’s pulled to him.
Enzo is the cream de la cream in his world.
He’s powerful, rich and dangerous. And drop dead gorgeous.
But these two are not supposed to be.
Their parents have warned them both to stay away from the other.
But the attraction and the chemistry cannot be denied nor ignored.
There are obstacles and challenges that face these two.
And that cliffhanger is stunning.
But since this is a boxset there is no waiting for the next book.
It now ten years later.
Ten years of anguish and despair.
We get details through flashbacks of what Aurora and Enzo have endured.
There are a lot of twists and turns.
Lots of suspense and drama and plenty of spice to heat things up.
Betrayals, deceit and mafia politics take place keeping things edgy and gripping.
I enjoyed reading Enzo and Aurora’s story.
And having both books together was convenient.

Dear Readers,

I'm so excited to finally share Fallen Raven Duet boxed set. This next installment in The Society series features Enzo and Aurora. You met Enzo briefly in King of Beasts Duet and Big Bad Wolf Duet.

You don't need to read the previous duets to follow this new story. However, reading books one through four first will help you understand The Society world and conflicts a bit better.

The suggested reading order goes like this...

King of Beasts Duet - Rex and Caterina
Big Bad Wolf Duet - Santino and Luce
Fallen Raven Duet - Enzo and Aurora
Wicked Knight Duet - Luca and Donata

So now it's Enzo's turn to find love. Though for him, the road to happiness is going to be long and bumpy. Enzo and Aurora's star-crossed lovers story begins in high school, where they both learn that in a world of angels and demons, no one safe.

One last note: Fallen Raven is a 240k-word, star-crossed lovers romance in a high-school setting and contains explicit scenes. This modern day Romeo and Juliet retelling is about never letting go.

*This is not a YA novel. Reader discretion is advised.

This book features:
✔️ He falls first
✔️ Star-Crossed lovers
✔️ Angst, family feud
✔️ Forbidden love

Xoxo,
Diana

This is Enzo and Aurora’s complete duet.
This is a dark mafia romance which takes place in a mafia elite school and is about the senior year of high school.
Aurora’s life is in a tailspin and completely changed, when she is sent off to an elite school where only the wealthy and mafia kids attend, and this is where she meets Enzo. Aurora just wants to keep her head down and stay under the radar, and keep away from Enzo, but fate has destined otherwise, and they continually cross paths, and both of their parents warn them to stay away from each other.
Now 10-years later, we get flashbacks into what Enzo and Aurora endured through their lives, and the obstacles and curveballs which they had to overcome.
This is a well written story which is filled with betrayal, drama, deceit, forced proximity, family feud, revenge, new adult romance, challenges, undeniable chemistry, suspense, danger, intrigue, twists and turns, emotions, action, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Life as Aurora knows it is about to change when she finds herself attending a high school filled with the heirs to five prominent mafia families. All she wants is to keep a low profile and stay away from those that hold the power, but she never expected to draw the attention of Enzo or what their feelings for each other would mean.
