GAME DAY by Cari Meister is a small Rookie Reader book. There isn't any Accelerated Reading info for it, and the Lexile folks merely mention that it's BR.
This book is an interesting contrast in that it has super short phrases and sentences. The subject of either are words like shirt, glove, teams, throw, catch. So while good for children who are intimidated by lots of text, they still have some challenging words.
But let me give you some samples.
Two teams. A ball. A bat.
or
The throw. The catch.
The artwork is attractive and shows girls and boys and kids of different colors. Could be a useful practice reader.
