An interesting, seemingly thorough look at Matisse's life and work. I had minimal previous knowledge of Matisse, so I learned much. I would have liked to see every work mentioned, but I guess I can look them up.

I started reading a biography on this artist...and then saw this book at the library. It is simple with lots of pictures and yet gave me a good understanding of him and his work.

It made me more interested in finishing the biography as both authors see his personal life very differently.

If you are interested in learning about different artists and styles this is a good book to read.
