Paddington's Birthday Party
The Browns throw a tea for Paddington's birthday. They can't figure out his birthday so they decide to start at the beginning and make him one. And they invite some other neighbor's over. They buy him a magic kit but because he doesn't have time to practice before they show up when he does the tricks some of them go astray. Particularly one with a crabby old neighbor that no one like's watch.

My Thoughts:
Paddington to me is so cute! Maybe because I have a thing for bears and stuffed things and have a room full of them. The reason I read this was because I remember Paddington from if I'm not mistaken an old show I used to watch as a kid called Pin-wheel. (Is my age showing?) So I was familiar with him. Which lead me to watch the movie about him on Netflix. Well, I was so enchanted by the movie that I decided to look up the books. This book was very short but stayed in the spirit of him in the movie. I actually thought that Paddington did a really good job (up until the egg and the watch) without practicing. And if he'd had more time he was have knocked those tricks out. When my cousin was little he used to really like magic & Toys R Us used to sell magic kits. So he'd buy these kits and practice. And it still fascinates me to watch behind-the-scenes specials on how magicians achieve some of their tricks. And I was glad to see the neighbors get in that old crabby one's grill for giving him crap about breaking his watch because it had so much value. And he knew it didn't. So this was a fun little read. Maybe tho for a beginning reader. Unless you're like me and watched the movie and are just curious about the books.

Rating:5
I won't rate this badly since it's not meant to be rated too highly on content. I think these type books are just meant for "the cute factor". Or either "the nostalgia" factor in my case.
