Kemi's Journal

This is the spiritual journal of Kemi, a young professional high-flier who has been a Christian for a year. Kemi faces struggles in her career and within her mixed race family - but most notably with her feelings for her former non-believing boyfriend. In a moment of weakness she sleeps with Zack and then has to deal with the resulting unplanned pregnancy, considering something she never dreamed she might abortion. She also considers abandoning her faith, feeling her actions have brought her under God's condemnation and beyond forgiveness. Though she estranges herself from church, she doesn't stop writing her journal and reflecting on her Bible verse for each day. Abidemi says of her novel, 'It is a call to people who've turned their back on their faith and also for Christians who are struggling with sin. It is a novel of encouragement, hope and redemption in Christ. I hope the novel will encourage people to live with their eyes focused on him in spite of their many struggles.' Target Christians or those on the fringe of Christianity; anyone needing to hear a story about grace and forgiveness and the way back to God. Key selling Well-crafted and strong writing with touches of humour, producing a book you can't put down Christian fiction that's not soft and sentimental - but gritty, real and rich in meaning. With its big themes (sex outside marriage, sanctity of life, friendship and forgiveness), sassy style and strong, likeable characters, Kemi's Journal will strike a chord with many women today. Whether you identify with Kemi, struggling to live out her faith as a single, Christian woman; Vanessa, who's always done the right thing and is beginning to wonder whether she is missing something or Kemi's parents, who watch helplessly as their daughter's life threatens to spiral out of control, this is a 'let's get real about life' story you won't want to put down.

Kemi's journal is an interesting and easy read dealing with important issues of life, love and faith. , it's like gaining insight into a single lady's mind by reading her diary, soon you uncover issues like office politics, race and identity, Christianity and relationships, abortion, love etc. For a little book, it is packed with discussion points, I love Kemi's parents.

I first read this book 14 years ago, loved it then and loved it again this time round.

A very down to earth look at the modern young womans struggles and triumphs with faith

I really enjoyed reading Kemi's Journal because i felt it gave a balanced honest account of the internal war that rages between our flesh and our desire to live for Christ. I especially loved the bible verses the writer used throughout the book which helped me to get my dose of the word for the day :-) I think it WS a great effort written from a place of experience and sound observation. The book is humorous, thought provoking, challenging and has a couple of good twists which make it a great area.

Insightful

One of the best relationships novel ever read with non judgemental Christianity preaching. Healed and provided direction. Must read book

Very well written, witty, so real, flaws, warts and all and yet deeply spiritual.
