Disappointing. I was expecting gifts worthy of actually being gifted, not tatty little junk projects that only an indulgent* parent would pretend to appreciate. There are a couple things in here that I would maybe make with kids, for fun (assuming I already owned the material required) but I certainly wouldn't urge them to give them as presents except to maybe grandma. Most of these products were minimally practical, as well as ugly.

Gorgeous Gifts is a cool book because it attempts to inform the crafter about the materials and why recycling is so important. The projects are mostly useful items or toys and the skills required were minimal. A kid could easily make most the crafts on his/her own, or the crafts could be improved with adult assistance, or an adult might have fun just rocking out the crafty-recycling. I would recommend the book to elementary teachers as a great resource for Earth Day projects or conservation unit ...more
