This A-Z guide to herbs explains how to grow and maintain them, how and when to use them in the kitchen, and what properties they have for medicinal, cosmetic and household purposes. It includes information on each herb's history, such as when it was discovered and what mythological and magical associations have grown up around it. There are also sections on general herb cultivation and maintenance, and tips on cooking with them. The author runs her own herb farm and has won many awards, including a Silver Gilt Medal at the Royal Horticultural Society Exhibition in 1993.

A beautiful book that gives all the basic information needed to choose which herbs to grow, and what to do with them once you've grown them.
Useful practical information on over 150 herbs, with each herb described over one or two pages. Loads of photographs, information on how to grow the herbs, the different varieties, how to propagate them etc. There are also sections on "medicinal" uses, how to cook with the herbs, and often recipes as well.
Beautifully presented, this is a book to browse through and enjoy. All the text is set out in small paragraphs, with clear headings, and the herbs are in alphabetical order (by Latin name), with a useful index at the back..
