Since there is a dearth of English language material on Xiangqi, this introductory book by David H. Li is a welcome sight. The book presents a concise overview of the Chinese chess game Xianqi and covers all of the essential material to get a beginner up and playing. Of special note is the inclusion of two annotated games. Even though I was a complete beginner, after reading this book I was able to play and win several games of Xiangqi online against other players.
