Dawn’s Awakening is the 14th book in Lora Leigh’s Breeds Series and this is only the second book I have read and I am totally and irrevocably hooked.

I loved this book…it’s a heartbreaking and such an emotional story about Dawn, who suffered so much since she was a child in the labs of the Genetics Council, repeatedly abused sexually and was finally rescued by her brother, pride leader Callan. She has blocked her memories from those times and is struggling with recurring nightmares which are slow

This book is one of my top picks. Very emotional book, with a happy ending. An emotional rollercoaster, if I want to be more precise.

Dawn knew Seth was her mate since the moment they met (‘The Man Within’ book), but couldn't cope with him. Dawn had been through a lot in the labs and by her pride brother (‘Tempting The Beast’ book). Thus, she was avoiding males.

Action Packed and full of Intrigue, Suspense and Romance!

This book centers on Dawn who is the most traumatized of the original pride of feline breeds. She was repeatedly raped from the time she was a child until the time Callan killed all of the soldiers and scientists in the labs when she was around 15. She suppressed all of those memories but her evil brother Dayan kept DVDs of her rapes and tortured her even after the escape by forcing her to watch them. Even though he was killed in book 1, D

I cannot believe that Seth would just abandon his mate for 10 years!!! Not even bothering fighting for her and choosing to have sex with other women..no matter how the author tries to excuse it that's CHEATING TO THE EXTREME! Having a mate and still sleeping around and proceeding to marry another woman is a huge betrayal I would not be forgiven...

Seth never redeemed himself in my eyes for what he did to his mate!

I was going to write a full review, but I changed my mind. I'd rather read the next book in the series than "waste" my time saying how much I loved this book, LOL.

So, let's go straight to the point: Dawn's Awakening is tied with Elizabeth's Wolf (Breeds, #4) as the best in the series so far, IMO. A true keeper.

I've been waiting for Dawn and Seth's story ever since they met in The Man Within (second in Leigh's Breed Series.)

Well worth the wait! It was emotional, gripping, sexy, and I even had a little chuckle there at the end.

Here's the send up:

Scarred from their horrific time in the labs that created genetically engineered man/ animal cross breeds- and from the treacherous dealings of a breed she had once considered brother- Dawn is the most emotionally vulnerable of all of them.

Having met when Seth t

Okay okay okay! So, I started reading this yesterday morning and was infuriated by damn near all the characters for one reason or another. I was extremely frustrated with the characters and where the story was headed. I DNFed it before the 2nd chapter.

Then I read another Lora Leigh story and was pretty pissed off at that story, too. Decided to see if maybe I was just PMSing or something and unfairly judged this book. So I gave it a second chance.

My verdict: Meh.

The reviews gushed that Seth is so

Absolutely adored this story. I'm unable to write a summary of it yet, I'm still shaking. In my opinion this is the best story in the series to date and I doubt one could surpass it. It was simply amazing...Actually there are not enough superlatives to describe it.

It was one heck of an emotional roller coaster, ranging from terror, despair, anger, hate, love, and everything in between.

The characters were rich, well-developed, and superbly drawn. They came to life under the readers eyes, making u

Anyone who has been following Lora Leigh's Breeds series has been introduced to Dawn Daniels, the little cougar sister of the pride led by Callan Lyons. The sexual abuse and torture that she suffered as a child in the Genetics Council's labs are mentioned in the early Feline Breeds books.

Dawn's Awakening is a story of overcoming abuse and the healing that can be found when someone believes in you. Yeah, the healing power of love is not only too cliche, but in Dawn's life, love wasn't healing. Th

I think this is one of the worst books I have ever read. I started reading it, expecting a story, where Seth helped Dawn through all her fears and etc., but what I got instead made me want to strangle both Seth and Dawn and even Callan....
When I first read about Seth, I saw him as a loyal, brave, loving and caring mate, if not for Dawn , then for another Breed, but in Dawn's Awakening he turned out to be the worst kind of man. Who in their right bloody mind would ever sleep with another woman if

This one had me on an emotional roller coaster. Though I read "Megan's Mark," "Harmony's Way", and "Tanner's Scheme" I felt a little lost at the beginning of this book. But, as the author weaved her story it started coming together and I was able to get back into the "know" on the council, sanctuary, etc. This one brought all the breeds together (wolf, coyote, cougar, etc.) and seemed to come full circle with events started in earlier stories, i.e., original breed, grotesque abuse in the labs (c ...more

Well I just finished Dawn's Awakening so I thought that while it was real fresh in my mind I might as well write the review for it!!! Dawn Daniels, in her young life endured years of torture, especially by the council. She is then freed by her brother, the pride leader Callen, but whom she feels a lot of hatred toward. Now years later, she is tormented by her mate, Seth Lawrence, where its been ten years and he has moved on with his life, and the mating hermone is no longer in his body, but she ...more

seth is a prick, dawn is immature. she has an excuse, he doesn't. he started the mating heat but chooses to desert her and fuck around. he is selfish and inconsiderate, never bothering to really try. honestly, i think he takes advantage of her. they all have. she has been through the wringer so it's obvious that she won't be easy to approach. instead of being patient and kind he tries to force her into being what he wants and when she doesn't, he punishes her by denying her her mate. that is abu ...more

See, here's the problem...I have a love/hate relationship with the Breed books. I really need more plot than porn sex and I was ready to cross this series off my list but my vbff, V, told me to give her four favorite books a chance and I'm glad I listened to her. Certainly, while this book has its fair share of LL's infamous porn sex and cheesy sex lines, there is a lot of sweetness in this book....and surprise...romance!!

Dawn's Awakening was really 4.5 stars for me. Leigh did a splendid job of creating her breed forces. Dawn, the smart ass, tough, yet caring Coyote Breed was a times a little bipolar. She was deeply, sexually wounded as a child; somehow she manages to get over that for just one guy in a matter of hours? Hmm, doesn't seem likely to me. So at times I found Dawn a little too unrealistic. I never felt a deep connection to her character that I really needed to say the book was fantastic. Seth, however ...more

I love all of the breed books. The love between Dawn and Seth is very apparent throughout the book. This is evidenced by how they treat one another and try to work together, instead of against each other.
,Seth is definately a "sweeter" hero, but still alpha enough to take control, and help the woman he loves get over the horrible things that had been done to her in the past. He was very romantic. He was very loving and supportive. He would do things to remind him of her..(the soap blew me away.

Even though I liked this book, I feel Dawn forgave Callen too soon for showing the video to Seth. And keeping them apart, by doing so he almost made her go through life alone, WOW what a loving brother. How would he like it if she showed his mate video of him being raped, which has been alluded to in previous books. I would not have forgiven him so easily, she should have kept this conflict going between Callen and Dawn for a few more books. Also Seth just walked away, Who wants a mate that woul ...more

Been trying to listen to this one on audio for a couple years now. But I get so turned off by the prologue.. shudder! Gonna just try skipping it this time and go straight for the goods. I get the basic idea, Seth is drawn to Dawn (smile), but gets dissuaded when some of her family show him visuals of her being abused while in captivity. I sure hate it when one of the MCs figures they can take away the other's MC's right to choose... 'for their own good'. (Palm to forehead)!

4 ½ Stars! ~~~ This is the fourteenth book in Lora Leigh's Breeds series. We've been teased in earlier books about Dawn, and this book was well worth the wait! As the title suggests, Dawn, after years of burying the pain of her childhood and controlling her emotions, finds that her survival is at risk when her true mate, Seth's life is threatened by an assassin. Dawn is suddenly forced to finally claim her mate or to forever let him go. ...more

A great book from start to finish! I loved how Dawn just took charge of her life and did what she needed to get her man. Seth was such a sweetie. So caring and nuturing. They made a great pairing. The ending had me in tears! Kudos to Ms. Leigh for an excellent book.
