Alison Uttley (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976), née Alice Jane Taylor, was a prolific British writer of over 100 books. She is now best known for her children's series about Little Grey Rabbit, and Sam Pig.
Little grey rabbit - long suffering, respected and loved - is finally treated by her vain and selfish housemates with some help from the other more steady companions. The cake is marvellous, and there are surprise gifts from the bees.
I really should check to make sure that this is the right one. I have two of the Uttley books from my childhood, and I think this is one of them. it's exactly the sort of thing Terry Pratchett mocks with Mr. Bunnsey.
A lovely story about friendship, kindness and the best way to spend your birthday. Grey Rabbit is given such beautiful gifts and made to feel very special on her birthday.
