For most of us, we only get one shot at life. For Zane Montgomery, things are a little bit different. He seems to have a never-ending supply of chances when it comes to life. He’s fought dinosaurs, been crucified next to Jesus, even spent some time as a daredevil in the 1970’s. He’s not immortal though, at least not in the traditional sense. Zane can die just fine. He just

Contrary to popular belief, humor ain't easy. There's a fine line between too subtle and the brick to the head approach. Ben Mariner should consider joining the circus because he is an expert tightrope walker.
Zane Montgomery is likable if entirely luckless. In some lives he's more likeable than in others, but regardless of whether he's a caveman, daredevil, or mafia thug, you gotta feel for the poor guy. The writing style is brilliant. The narration breaks the fourth wall on occasion and is pep ...more

This book was fun! It was cleaver and inspired. If you have ever wondered about your after-life, Zne Montgomery has a tale to tell... His eternal quest to get the girl through his many lives and many deaths. It is a fabulous journey. What would you think if someone told you they had lived with Jesus and Jesse James? The charachters in this book were both witty and fun. You never really knew what was going to happen in each life and I think ...more

I only read the first 11% of this book and I was bothered by two things: 1) "He gave himself a good scratching on the ass and around the crotch area...." Ummm....do we really need to know exactly where he scratches himself?
2) Gestas's attitude when Jesus Christ promises that the two robbers would be with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven. I'm sorry but his response ("I'm gonna pass on that one, J.C.") just rubs me the wrong way. As a Christian, I just can't bring myself to continue this book after th ...more

Really a great book by Ben. He has a voice and wit as a narrator that I think many will enjoy. And the story is paced well, moving between the eponymous Zane's many lives and the life of Zane Proper, which makes it one that's hard to put down. I highly recommend this one. Seriously. Why aren't you already reading it? If you are not, I judge you. Well done to a writer that I hope we get more and more of, and soon.
