Christmas is the time of rejoicing, of healing and sometimes second chances. I was very happy to see Penguin releasing and re-releasing novels from the well know Regency Signet line. Nothing pleased me more then finding this gem by one of my favorite authors Elisabeth Fairchild, whose words are sometime poetic and characters are so heartfelt they bring tears to your eyes.

This book very much brought bucket of tears to my eyes as the story unfolds with Kirkland Fleming, Earl of Copeland trying

This is probably the most unique paranormal/historical romance I've read - it is very heartbreaking and has this strange ambience that enfolds you as you read. As an aside, I must admit to some trepidation with experiencing the suspense of the story at midnight, and I encourage the slightly more faint-hearted to read this in daylight. :)
I have to thank Rane for making me aware of the existence of this lovely book :-)

The Christmas Spirit is a beautifully written, heart-breaking but uplifting story, that, while definitely romantic isn’t a traditional romance in the boy-meets-girl; boy-and-girl-live happily ever after mould.

Kirkland Fleming, Earl of Copeland is by no means an old man (his age isn’t given, but from the descriptions of him, he can’t be more than thirty-something) but he is dying because of a weakness in his heart. H
Wow. Really lovely. Unique. Heartwarming and suspenseful. Reminded me strongly of that old movie, THE GHOST AND MRS MUIR. A historical paranormal romance set at Broomhill Hall, in the English countryside. Hampshire, maybe. In the afterward, the author explains that the story is loosely based on a "real" spirit that haunts an old house in England.

Just beautiful.

I'm tempted to leave it at that...
4 1/2.

This is an unusal mash-up of ghost story, Christmas story and Regency romance.

It's not a spoiler to say that the ghost is obvious from the beginning. Bea initially wants revenge against the current Lord Copeland to set right a number of wrongs she experienced as a Christmas bride. Kirk, the current Lord Copeland, is dying of a weak heart and has been given little time to live. He decides to host the Christmas to end all Christmases but none of his guests are able to arrive on time due to a

Five stars. OMG yes!

Paranormal because it is a ghost story but not like Dickens. It starts with revenge which I was wary of but revenge gets cast aside before long and in its place is a love story between two characters that is based on mutual interests AND emotions. Love requires both. It's a brilliant telling of traditions that feel good at Christmas and why they could feel good anytime. I wanted to savor and hurry at the same time. I wondered how it could end happily? The author accomplished
