Fifteen personal stories from laity and clergy alike show what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist Christian today. These men and women arrive at their faith by many paths--influenced by the Bible, Jesus Christ Superstar and even the Bernstein Mass. Here is a fresh and much-needed look at UU Christians, who, for decades, have kept the work and spirit of Christianity alive in our liberal religion.
This book gives many short essays and first-hand experiences of great encounters with the spirit in a Unitarian Universalist context. Many may wonder if there is that true disconnection, or a reasoned disconnection that most of our tradition feel when encountering Jesus and do not know how to put that experience into words. These essays will make that connection for Unitarian Universalists and Christians alike who may wonder what the journey with Jesus Christ may be like for a UU may be like. Also the sincere, thoughtful approach by some of the authors brought home the message that the subject of Christ should not be a taboo subject. I would recommend this book to anyone of any denomination who is exploring the subject of Christianity or questioning the role of faith in their lives. The essays are approachable, easy to read and certainly available to anyone from any religious background.
Very interesting book of short essays from people who are Christian and Unitarian Universalist. Many explained that are drawn to the particular path of Christianity and love the open, curious, affirming community of UU. It helped me understand more how I might find a place for myself in UU.
