National and state curriculum demand heavier amounts of content. But, teachers have no time or training for teaching the vital learning strategies and "life-skills" students need!                   "SOAR has been a Godsend to our family...You have no idea!  My son has not lost one assignment or forgotten anything at school since I set him up with your Binder System.  You really demonstrated how to simplify the organizational process and I am so grateful to have found something that finally works!"  -- Paul K., Middle School Parent                        Is the education system setting students up for failure? Students are learning lots of new technical knowledge. But, very few are able to juggle their new knowledge, time, and tasks all at once. Organizing papers, managing time, managing tasks, taking tests, taking notes, studying, communicating, organizing at home... these are all HUGE functions in everyday school-life. Yet, schools don't teach any of it! Students  struggle  in school, not because of their lack of intelligence, but because they haven't been taught how to learn!              What is the  missing link  in education?  HOW TO LEARN! Get your child ahead in school by giving them the proper skills needed to be a successful student and more importantly, a successful learner. The strategies in this book are  appropriate  for students  upper elementary, middle school, high school, & college.                                  Do you struggle with test-taking?  Flip to page 92. Thanks again to the amazing support staff at my sons school for loaning me yet another wonderful book to help. We are anxious about middle school next year. This is a technique being used that I am fortunate enough to get an early view of. Looks very promising. Nicely written to appeal & make sense to my kid too.

Wish I would of read this in high school.
Even more, wish I cared back then!

Great tips for goal setting, note taking, and test taking that are surprisingly unfamiliar. Enjoyed the experience even with the sting of regret towards the end!

This is a great tool for students ( and adults!) with executive function issues. Provides explicit steps for organizing school materials, processes and studying. I pull this book out almost every month to use as a tool while working with individual students.

There is so much to accomplish with our students in the classroom regarding curriculum, that we often forget or don't have the time to teach our students the soft skills necessary to assist them in reaching their goals. These soft skills are very important for our students' future both academically and for employment. SOAR Study Skills is a wonderful, student friendly book that will help students earn better grades by teaching them to set goals, become better organized, and keep track of their progress. My favorite organization skill taught in this book is how to write a report; very clever. Although this book's title indicates its just for study skills, the skills taught in it can and should be used in everyday life and in your job. It would be best if students in 5-6 grade where introduced to this book and then refreshed yearly through middle and high school.
