Washington D.C. is one of the world's most recognizable cities. Time Out's local experts give the low-down on famous icons — the White House, the Capitol, the Smithsonian Institution. They also take the pulse of the wider Washington — a diverse cityscape with a vibrant cultural life, from award-winning restaurants to innovative art and a unique home-grown music scene.
I prefer the contents of the Dorling Kindersley guide for the coverage of the main tourist attractions along the downtown Mall area. However, this is the third Washington guide I've perused and all are much of a muchness. Where this Time Out scores with me is the size. It matters. There are no pull out maps, but adequate and detailed area and street maps are in the back of the book. Out of all my guide samples, this one would fit best into a pocket or camera bag. It also scores with the music scene coverage.
