Radiolab asked listeners for their sex ed recommendations.
Gul, a Radiolab listener, says, "My dad is an OB/GYN. He had this book lying around when I was growing up, and I always loved looking at the other worldly pictures of babies on black backgrounds across development . When I was in third grade my teacher asked if anyone knew where babies come from. I eagerly raised my hand, and my teacher (who was also a patient of my father's) of course picked me, because the kid of an OB/BYN is obviously gonna have a good answer and make her job easier, right? I confidently gave my answer: babies come from outer space! Confused, my teacher asked, so then what does your dad do? Well, I replied with certainty, when the stork brings them from outer space, the mom keeps them safe in her belly, and then when it's ready, my dad delivers them!"
