“After the time of the world’s demise, the bringer of death will arise. You are the bringer of death.” Throughout history, humanity waged a war against supernatural beings until The Great Battle, when the Evil Vampire Enkur rose to fight. Werewolves, who still possessed a spark of humanity, sided with humans, but they were few in number. When the humans lost, they hid underground with the help of a legendary scientist, Dr. Sandor, who created special UV lights for their protection. On Mila's seventeenth birthday, her long-believed dead biological father, Gannadius, the great werewolf elder, tells her that she is part of a prophecy to save humanity and defeat the vampires. From that moment forward, Mila sets out on a journey and plunges into a new world, where the dead are not really dead, traitors can be loyal allies, and the biggest danger lies within, a world far more dangerous and confusing than the only one she has ever known.

This is the third series I’ve read by this author and it may end up being my favorite, although time will tell. It loosely connects to the Finn Brothers series, except it takes place many years after. In this world, the vampires have succeeded in taking over the world and humans (those that remain) have been forced underground (literally). Mila is an orphan who was raised by a leader in one of the underground villages. The villagers all work hard to train and be prepared in case of attack, but mainly they keep themselves hidden. One day, some mysterious visitors appear, only for an assassin to appear and for Mila’s life to change forever. Before she knows it, they are on a quest having to do with some mysterious prophecy.
Overall, this was an engaging story, though with a slow build. The story focuses on the characters, especially Mila, and you also learn some things about Enkur’s side of things. There is some general information about the state of the world, but I do wish there had been a little more time spent on world building. There was also a “surprise” about one of the characters, but I saw it coming fairly early on, not long after the character was introduced. The story ends unresolved, though not with a cliffhanger. Their journey is complete, but there is definitely more to come.
This was a quick and enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading the next book. I received an advance review copy from BookSirens for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Mila is a young human girl growing up in a world where the aftermath of the battle between vampires, werewolves and humans sent them underground after they lost the battle against the vampires. She has trained her whole life to be a fighter to go aboveground to continue the fight and try to gain their world back but the only problem is that she is thrown into a life that was kept from her and it will push her to see things differently. She is told on her 17th birthday she is part of a prophecy to save humanity and defeat the vampires for good. With the help of her friends and some werewolves they set out to help her with this mission. The story does have a slow pace to it and the world building was minimal. The slow burn relationship and character development was lacking some meat but is good for middle year to ya range. I do look forward to the second edition to see the outcome and hope the battle scenes are alittle more climatic than in this one. What drew me in to this book was the cover. The colors are just so beautiful. I was like, I shall give it a chance since it was genre I also love. And I must say it was well worth it.
It is a fantasy book with vampires, werewolves and humans in the world together. This book is setting up a great world and the names in the story are truly creative. I was able to figure out one of the twists right away but it did not take away from my reading of it. I do love how we see different povs, seeing how the humans are setting up the battle and how the vampires are trying to out whit them. The ending is a bit sad after everything they went through but it truly was a blast to read. I read it in about two days because I was pulled into this world from that first sentence. Plus it is pretty amusing that the half breed werewolf is a vegetarian and that becomes the joke throughout the story. I cannot wait to see where this series takes off too.
This is the story of Mila and the adventure she finds herself on that she never planned to do. At the beginning she finds out her life was not what she thought it was and off she goes with friends to basically save the world it seems. But of course things are never easy and trouble abounds. Lots of adventure, trouble, intrigue and bad guys. Had to see who was on Mila's side and who would betray her. But an interesting story and concept as the vampires rules the world and enjoyed watching to see if Mila could actually be the savior.
This was a pretty good read. Engaging characters, adventure, friendship and a sort of "coming of age" for the main character, Mila. The action was slow to start and the fight scenes mostly happening "behind the curtain", so to speak. The romance was pretty mild, apropos for the age range the book is aimed at. I would have liked a bit more teeth in the battle scenes and the conclustion came a bit fast. None-the-less, I am looking forward to the next in the series. Should be interesting. We enter a world where humans have been defeated by the vampires and have been forced underground to survive. Mila is part of this underground world whose life is turned upside down when she discovers that she is in fact part of an ancient prophecy to take down and defeat the vampires and restore humanity. It’s one hell of a journey, full of danger, full of lies and there’s some action as the author weaves a tale that entertains and enthrals.

There was so much potential in this story. What i liked: The story in itself was good. Lots of future potential. The writing wasn’t bad, some minor grammatical faults and typos but not much. I really liked the names, very inventive. The romance scenes were nice and cuddly.
What i didn’t like: It lacked worldbuidling and character development. You see a change in the FMC but not enough to really call it development. The build up to the romance could have been better. It’s slow paced, i got a bit bored halfway through. The ending was very anticlimactic.
Conclusion: Good concept, a lot of potential. Not really what i thought or wanted it to be. But i probably will be reading the rest of the series.
