Jose and George speak different languages, but they learn to communicate with each other. This is a great book about friendship. It's wonderful for introducing the concept of diversity and foreign languages. It even teaches a few spanish words including: casa, buenos dias, and como estas?

“Amigo Means Friend” is a fictional book about to friends that speak different languages. The story is aimed at beginning readers, so it does not involve a rich plot with a problem and solution. It includes both English and Spanish phrases with the translations included in the corresponding page of the text. Diversity is displayed within the languages of the two main characters. The illustrations in the text help to support the idea that although the two characters may look different, many things about them are the same despite their appearances and languages.
