I would give it 5 stars if the recipes were better done (pictures). If you call it a cookbook I expect a bit more than just printed text recipes. I dont know why all of these heart healthy cookbooks have to be as bland as a low sodium diet. Ha! They're all just recipes written in black and white text. At least spice up the cookbook and let us see what we would make. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about nutrition, yet I still thought the information inside was really helpful and I learned some things (which cuts of meat are healthier, ect.) It was worth reading.
If you are only looking for recipes, this is not the book for you. However, if you want to understand more about what to look for in a heart healthy diet plus some starter recipes, this book is very good. It helped us understand more about heart disease and cholesterol and how to find heart healthy foods or make our favorite recipes better. The recipes we tried from this book were also very good.
