Not the book I wanted about these beautiful cemeteries. The black and white photographs sometimes rise above adequate, but the text is focused too much on troop movements and military details and not on the cemeteries: where they are, how they're kept, who's buried there, whether they're remembered. I know I don't know enough about the first World War, but this book was too dense and finicky in its details to teach me. Hopefully, someone has (or will) write a real guide to these lovely, melancholy places.
