Not the easiest work to get through, but it was definitely worth it.

Rudhyar has an immense knowledge of cultural history to pass along to the reader. And his ideas of civilization versus culture and how music plays into them is a fun idea to consider in light of current musical trends.

It's nice to read a viewpoint of someone who lived through so much musical culture. (He wrote this when he was in his 80's.)
